Last month I got to travel to Thailand 🇹🇭 for the 42nd @ISTS_Symposium#ISTS42 🐢
I am so honored to have received the Archie Carr Student Award 🏆 for my presentation! Being recognized with this award means so much to me. So exciting to share some of my PhD work with others! 🔬
i got some pictures printed to show my @LettersPreSci penpal the kind of work i get to do and all of the employees at the Walgreens said “OMG you’re the turtle girl!” and asked me questions 😂 i hope my penpal gets just as excited!
The real academic writing test is learning to appropriately balance your use of "moreover", "however", "therefore", "furthermore", "hence", and "thus".
i got matched with a penpal through @LettersPreSci! i am so excited to share my love for science with a middle school student and can’t wait for my first letter to arrive! 😄 #STEMforall#STEMPenPals
OK here we go. Conceivably the greatest, most technical accomplishment in the history of natural history art: nearly 4000 glass models of flowers created by Rudolph and Leopold #Blaschka for @HarvardMuseum. None of the objects in here look like glass.
Readers, they're all glass.
Had a great time at #SERSTM. Key messages: collaborate, think outside the box, innovate, communicate. Consider life from a #seaturtle point of view. Share the beach! See y'all in 2025.
What is your most unhinged story from grad school?
Mine was probably the time I picked a dead flounder up off the lab floor and then ran to a public bathroom with it in my hands and sobbed over its body in a stall.
No more emails. If you want something from me you must approach me slowly and calmly with a piece of apple or carrot in your palm with your fingers flat and extended so I do not bite them
@SimoneSonder if you find a washed up turtle (typically a hatchling or little bigger than a hatchling) they definitely need some rehabilitative care and a ride offshore since they washed back for a reason. (3/3)
@SimoneSonder so if they have less than usual they probably won’t make it. if you bring them to a rehab facility/call FWC they will be cared for and then released further offshore to better their chances of survival. (2/3)
