@nogodsnomayors the bit where @lubchansky misspoke and added an extra "a" to the beginning of the word mayor obligates me to flag the long-time mayor of Johnson, RI, Ralph aRusso, featuring legal name changes to be at the top of alphabetical ballots:

.@postoctobrist lack of imagination re the Letters of Marque on TF; I figure I can head down to San Diego Harbor, seize control of this here ship, and set sail to the coast off Tijuana

@HelenaMTLawyer@mandalawyerin@ASFleischman if someone is the in the county but not subject to its jurisdiction we can still kick them out, but importantly we can't criminally prosecute them for anything, e.g. foreign diplomats, which is exactly who that language in the 14A is referring to
@StalkingPMS@ASFleischman fundamentally, though, monetary supply under the constitution is inherently a Congressional power, b/c the President has no authority at all to manage it on their own; some kind of authorizing legislation is always necessarily required for the President to affect it
@StalkingPMS@ASFleischman I suppose the converse is true, though, in that if a change in monetary policy is *needed* it would be extremely difficult to effect because of the massive number of veto points created by bicameralism combined with the committee system
@StalkingPMS@ASFleischman so much of our Constitution is based on an assumption the people running our government aren't suicide bombers willing to blow the entire thing up, but I suppose the contemporary GOP is a live test of that theory
If your kid is barely out of HS and living on your dime as a frat bro and says something like "your body, my choice" then you have absolutely failed as a parent.
@ASFleischman no, I want someone who is like, 16 and was raised in a Skinner Box that played a continuous loop of the opinions authored by William O. Douglas
