this perfectly shows why cross-chain privacy is theater

when you bridge assets and the tx fails, the refund goes to your original transparent address. now anyone can link your shielded activity by matching timing and amounts

here's the actual problem: zcash maintains privacy in its pool, near intents is a separate relayer, ethereum is transparent. when you cross three security models the refund has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere knows your t-address. adding ephemeral addresses helps but you still have timing correlation

tezos solved this YEARS AGO with bound_data in sapling transactions (https://t.co/ODhmskvutW). it cryptographically binds shielded operations to application logic in the same execution environment. no external relayers, no cross-chain refund addresses, no leaked linkability from failure modes

while everyone's hyped about bridging privacy across chains, tezos built sapling directly into smart contracts so the entire tx flow -including failures- happens in one trust domain

etherlink extending this to evm compatibility means privacy that actually composes

privacy is an architecture problem, not a feature you bolt on later
