Thank you to all my teachers who made me challenge social norms and learn from observation. @KanMukherjee@iimb_official partnered for this specific proposal on reduction in energy use through application of status quo bias.
On this day last year,PM Shri @narendramodi ji called upon individuals and institutions worldwide to contribute ideas and papers on LiFE. Today,HMEFCC @byadavbjp proudly honored the winners of NITI Aayog's Global Call for Ideas and Papers.Congratulations to all the prize winners!
While we appreciate the meeting we cant understand why single use plastic bottles are used for serving water.
Can they be replaced with steel or glass tumblers please !
Citizens lookup on you @swachhbharat
Trying out various social media platforms to ensure we reach those who would like to use this free repository. Led this digital repository project as a knowledge commons for over 2 years and am very happy to announce that it is up and running!
12 hours of rain brought the city to a standstill, causing water logging across Bengaluru. Civic authorities must take measures to address this recurring crisis, sustainably. @jhatkaadotorg

And each resident needs to harvest rainwater in their buildings!
@SWRRLY wants to fell 368 trees at #Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Colony for a Commercial Development #BBMP#NammaHasiru , hope the cities Green Warriors file objections.
108/n SHOULD KARNATAKA GROUND WATER AUTHORITY (KGWA) BE SCRAPPED?
IS KGWA A SCAM ENGINE?
As everyone knows the BWSSB has announced a BAN on Borewell drilling, just weeks ago! And guess what, the KGWA is distributing bore-well drilling permissions like peanuts!
No verification of sites, no verification if its in a notified area, no verification if the use is for commercial, no verification if the water will be used for construction use. The gross inefficiency of this authority is on open display in the rampant misuse of groundwater in every single construction site in Whitefield.
It is as though no such authority exists to govern the use of groundwater! So then, why have it at all? Why spend our tax money on a useless authority that doesn't do its job?
The only purpose for which this authority exists is to protect and conserve groundwater which is a public resource, an overexploited non-renewable resource, and needs to be kept safe for public use, in an emergency.
Strictly going by the law, since all taluks in Bengaluru are notified areas, no borewell permissions can be given except for public bore-wells, which are for general public use.
But in practice, this agency is frittering away the remaining groundwater allowing all and sundry to drill and misuse groundwater for construction purpose and commercial purpose, when all the public bore-wells have run dry due to this very overexploitation! When people don't have water to drink, the KGWA is allowing rogue builders to use groundwater for construction, and commercial premises to use for profits.

@swiggy great milestone but we'd like to return the balloon gift - it sadly does not fit with 2024 environment concerns. Google 'choking by balloons' to know hazards to infants + issues of litter, soil, water pollution, risk to birds, wildlife++
So #NoBalloonsPlease!!
On #WorldEarthDay2024 and in view of the ongoing #Bengaluru water crisis, see research by Vivek, @deepak_malghan & @KanMukherjee (@iimb_official) showing how ‘habit-change’ interventions can lead to lower water consumption by affluent households https://t.co/rI6hLYYIn3
@ProfCongKAR@TowardsLiberti@MansoorKhanINC I feel that the bigger issue is lack of public transport close to people's places. Yes, this can help but adding mid-size buses to offices and apartments is more crucial.
@HariniNagendra@azimpremjiuniv@ClimateResearch@MundoliSeema Glad to see a mention of humans and behaviour.
After all, it is all human made problems. Humans have the capabilities and opportunity to address ecological environmental issues; no other species is blessed this way. But we often lack motivation in our behaviour to change.
@deepak_malghan The world is complex and change is perhaps one of the most complex topics today. Herbert Simon said "You do not change people’s minds by defeating them with logic." If we combine Simon and Chomsky, we might have some sense of why telling truth is unlikley to work in most cases.
@aditimukherji A related point is made by this article. The wasted GDP is often created by the affluent class's wasteful tastes and practices. https://t.co/jMaSmp4HEm
