🎉New preprint! We've optimized quantum circuit complexity for combinatorial tasks using digitized-counterdiabatic protocols. Tested with 20-qubits IonQ's hardware, achieving up to 40x depth reduction vs. standard algorithms https://t.co/VJJrEaRpKF #QuantumComputing@KipuQuantum
WHO IS WINNING THE QC RACE WORLDWIDE?
We need to define first what means winning the quantum computing (QC) race. Let us then differentiate between academic and industry QC races.
The academic one is about improving QC hardware and compressing QC algorithms for research: publishing papers, graduating students, while getting grants, awards, and promotions. Topics as fault-tolerant QC belong to mathematical physics, it may possibly arrive to science in years, next decades hopefully to technology, and perhaps next century to business.
The industry QC race is about intellectual property, focused innovation, and commercial competition, developing as early as possible QC hardware that allows one to claim useful quantum advantage for industry use cases in this NISQ era, productizing QC hardware and QC algorithms, increasing customer traction and markets, boosting quantum ecoystems with thriving QC startups and engaged tech corporations, while aligning global strategies and scalable business with governments.
Who is winning the academic QC?
As important as they may be, academic labs and networks do not play a decisive role now for the sake of technological sovereignty, global markets, and geopolitical considerations.
Who is winning the industry QC race?
In digital QCs, @IBMResearch has the most advanced superconducting QC hardware and cloud-based access worldwide. It is also leading in business model, marketing strategy, number and quality of qubits, customer traction, and global positioning. They have not made yet a claim of quantum supremacy but they will soon reach that level, no doubt. After, we can mention @GoogleQuantumAI with superconducting qubits, as well as @QuantinuumQC and @IonQ_Inc with high-quality trapped-ion qubits, gate fidelities, and circuit depths. Then, we could mention Origin Quantum, @OxfordIonics @OxfordQCircuits @Fujitsu_Global and @AQT_GmbH Thereafter may come a list too long to comment on, but mostly companies using few-qubit gadgets, gathering many qubits without any encoding of industry use cases, or far from the quoted major leagues.
In analog QCs, we can mention the quantum annealers of @dwavequantum superconducting hardware, up to its questioned quantumness, and @XanaduAI, up to its questioned usefulness of boson sampling, while @pasqalio and @QueraComputing with neutral atoms shine with top QC hardware and vision towards scalability of industry use cases.
In digital-analog QCs, the first tests have been successfully done only at the academic level, USTC with tens of superconducting qubits and Innsbruck with tens of trapped-ion multiqubit gates, but @pasqalio and @QueraComputing may soon get the digital-analog leap towards scalable QC.
There is a bold, exciting, and realistic race towards quantum advantage for industry use cases in the next 18-36 months. The strong candidates for achieving such historic milestone in this NISQ era are @IBMResearch @pasqalio @QueraComputing@IonQ_Inc@QuantinuumQC and @KipuQuantum Join us or miss it.
Quantum destiny is all.
Great talk by Jens @jenseisert on the intriguing topic: 'Do NISQ devices have applications in machine learning and combinatorial optimization?' His answer? 'Definitely maybe' 🙂 #Quantumcomputing

"@KipuQuantum made it, and we made it for building a unique and successful present of useful quantum computing for industry use cases in the NISQ era!
Yes, we can now announce that @KipuQuantum
is a @creativedlab graduate in the 2022/2023 Quantum Stream.
Congratulations to the @KipuQuantum team, the most talented quantum computing team worldwide!
It was a tough competition with the best quantum startups around the quantum globe and, after highly professional scrutiny, less than a dozen startups made it, so we are incredibly proud.
Creative Destruction Lab (CDL, https://t.co/7MwhdURXtf), in partnership with the University of Toronto @UofT - @rotmanschool Rotman School of Management, is an esteemed program that propels early-stage tech startups towards success. It connects ambitious entrepreneurs with mentors, experts, and investors, constantly providing crucial support. Startups like @KipuQuantum benefit from mentorship by leading scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, and technologists in the intergalactic quantum space. CDL empowers these startups to navigate the quantum landscape, accelerating their path to global impact.
We want to thank our venture manager for the @creativedlab Quantum Stream, Brianna Lee, for supporting us in every possible way, Muhammad Haris of University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, and all our demanding but always supportive mentors for all their guidance.
In further posts, we will provide more elaborate details about our proactive mentors but, here, we want to deeply thank the sharpness of Prof. John Martinis at @ucsantabarbara and the brightness of Prof. Artur Izmaylov @UofT
This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will massively contribute to the speedup and growth of Kipu Quantum's successful present and future."

TO NAVIGATE IS NECESSARY, TO LIVE IS NOT
This quote attributed to Pompey The Great, a Roman general and statesman, has been rephrased along history with distortions and nuances for all tastes.
I knew of it decades ago from brilliant and resourceful poet Fernando Pessoa: "Navegar é preciso, viver não é preciso". And the emotional interpretation of Maria Bethánia in the song "Os Argonautas" https://t.co/amm7eEbjZP of genius composer Caetano Veloso.
Yes, some of us decided to be the explorers of the micro and macro universe, of the inanimate, human, and artificial beings, the argonauts of the infinitely unknown but sensually appealing, like the scent of an impossible vision in a continuous travel through an eternal foggy intergalactic landscape.
Our recent travels to the Silicon Valley in the US West Coast area plus the one ending today through the US East Coast have been influential for us but, hopefully, also for our hosts, followers, supporters, customers, and investors.
Already in Frankfurt now and ready to take off towards home in Berlin, where we will be holding another @KipuQuantum workshop and summit to keep on revolutionizing quantum computing, bringing soon quantum advantage to the present of all industry use cases.
The universe looks little when one travels, ideas and visions get always wider. Knowing the mindsets of so many talents around and influencing them makes us all more competitive and creative. I usually have too many brilliant ideas per day but can only deliver a few of them. Now I have refreshed and updated some eclectic views on interdisciplinary arts, science, technology, and business.
Next week is the time of visiting Paris and the incredible talent in companies like @pasqalio and @Alice__Bob, among others.
"Navegar es necesario, vivir no es necesario".
After stunning weeks learning from the entrepreneurial mindset of the Silicon Valley and enlightening it with the @KipuQuantum gospel, it is time to fly from Los Angeles, via Munich, to Berlin.
We are aware that our vision, to bring quantum advantage to the present of advanced quantum computers and industry use cases, is the Zeitgeist that will rule the rest of the century.
Years ago, we predicted the present status quo of the quantum computing landscape, its failures and no-go business models. We also predicted its first derivative, but we made our bet for the second derivative, the only way to be unbeatable, the only bet that matters to make history of quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, and advanced artificial intelligence.
Ineffable genius, brilliant teams, and quantum destiny are all.
continual reminder i’m actively angel investing in the best technical founders doing ~ differentiated and big ~ things in QC.
DMs open, and if not a fit for me but highest quality i’ll try and help.
did two deals last year (nodeQ and one stealth) and plan more for this year!
