Emergency Appeal: Support Muslim Family Targeted By Hate

A local Walsall Muslim family of African descent with two children, aged 12 and 16, is facing unimaginable hardship after being targeted in what is being treated as a hate crime because the prepatrator was using racist and Islamophobic abuse during the attack.

Just two days after moving into their new home, the family experienced a terrifying attack on their property. The front of their home and vehicle were deliberately smashed and damaged, leaving the family fearing for their safety. They were forced to flee the property and were unable to return for three days.

While they were displaced, their home was burgled. Tragically, their life savings, jewellery, and many treasured personal belongings were stolen, adding further devastation to an already traumatic ordeal.

The emotional impact on the family, particularly the two children, has been profound. What should have been an exciting new chapter has instead become one of fear, trauma, and significant financial loss. They are now trying to rebuild their lives, replace essential belongings, and regain a sense of safety and stability.

We are asking our communities to come together and support this family during their time of need. Every donation, no matter how small, will help them recover from this devastating ordeal and begin to move forward.

Dear @easyJet ,

If this is not harassment, I’m not sure what is.

My family and I were due to board flight EZY2489 from Luton to Pisa on 21 May. We had 4 personal bags, all within the permitted size limits, and nothing else.

My boarding pass was scanned without issue, but when my wife scanned hers, a member of staff repeatedly insisted our bags were too big and that we had to pay extra.

We explained that we had travelled with these same bags before without any problems. He then asked my wife to place one bag in the sizer, which she did successfully.

While we were walking to the bag sizer, he suddenly walked away and loudly announced: “There are only 3 minutes left before the gate closes, I’ll leave you with this and head back.”

After the first bag fit perfectly, he then claimed another bag was oversized. During the exchange, he asked another member of staff if she had checked our bags. She said no. He smiled at her in a way that felt dismissive, then asked her to check the bags herself.

All 4 bags fit the sizer perfectly.

Meanwhile, my children — including my autistic son — were left in tears while we were being told to wait at the gate. The entire experience caused severe anxiety for him, and he is now refusing to fly again. We somehow managed to get him home safely.

This experience has also left me deeply upset and questioning whether racism or Islamophobia played a part in how we were treated, especially as my wife and I are visibly Muslim.

No family should be treated this way at the boarding gate, especially a family with a special needs child.

Amin Abdullah.

He stood his ground so others could make it home safely.

When gunmen opened fire outside the Islamic Center of San Diego, Amin protected the community until his final moments. Police say his actions prevented the attack from becoming far worse.

Support Amin’s family with funeral costs, immediate household needs, education for his children, and long term financial stability.

May Allah accept him amongst the martyrs and grant patience to his loved ones. 🤲

Brother Amin Abdullah was the security guard who was martyred at the Islamic Center of San Diego. He gave his life to protect the lives of countless students and congregants.

One of his last Facebook posts said:

"What is success? To many people success is financial stability, good reputation, beauty, etc.
As for ME! Wallahi, thumma Wallahi. It is returning back to Allah OUR creator with the same pure soul he loaned me at birth.
Having the Mala'ikah [angels] of Allahu ta'ala saying
"don't fear and don't grieve, but receive the glad tidings of Jannah which you were promised by the Most forgiving and Most Merciful".
