Day Two of the #AmaniConference closed with stakeholders turning dialogue into commitments towards a peaceful, cohesive and democratic 2027 General Election.
Building on yesterday’s deliberations, the forum engaged in critical conversations on responsible political leadership and ethical campaigning, emphasising the need for issue-based politics, respect for democracy and peaceful engagement during the electoral period and beyond.
A key milestone was the presentation of the Political Parties Peace Charter for the 2027 General Elections, which was presented to political parties for review and consideration as a framework for strengthening responsible political conduct and promoting peaceful electoral competition.
The two-day forum culminated in the adoption of a Joint Communiqué, bringing together shared commitments by stakeholders to safeguard peace and national cohesion.
The Communiqué calls for strengthened early warning and response mechanisms, responsible communication, peaceful coexistence and collective action against violence, hate speech, ethnic contempt and other conduct that threatens Kenya’s peace.

Today, we brought together Development Partners and Civil Society Organisations to ask a critical question: How do we protect the gains of 14 years of devolution and make the fourth cycle even stronger?
For FY 2026/27, our partnership agenda is simple yet comprehensive: to strengthen County institutions, modernise data systems, review our legal and policy frameworks, deepen accountability and citizen participation, and build stronger disaster and climate resilience.
Our partners reaffirmed their commitment to supporting devolution, with a strong call for better coordination, greater alignment with county priorities and ensuring that support reaches communities where it matters most.
As we prepare for the next phase of devolution, our shared priority is clear: protect the gains made over the past 14 years, ensure continuity of county services and build stronger, more responsive County Governments.
I appreciate our Development Partners and CSOs for their continued partnership and look forward to working together to make the fourth cycle of devolution stronger and more effective.

We close day one of the conference with a call to turn commitment into action and keep Kenya peaceful before, during and beyond 2027.

1/ The road to a peaceful 2027 election does not begin on polling day. At the #AmaniConference2026, @NCIC_Kenya, @NSCpeace, @irck_info, @WorldVisionKE and partners focused on what prevention requires now: trust, dialogue, credible information and collective action.
AMANI CONFERENCE 2026: Ahead of Kenya's 2027 general elections, a peaceful and inclusive electoral process demands collective action today.
IRCK joined national and development partners at the Amani Conference to advance Kenya's peaceful elections agenda, with dialogue centered on conflict prevention, social cohesion, digital literacy and online safety, and amplifying marginalized voices priorities that align closely with IRCK's interfaith peacebuilding mandate.
Alongside the @NCIC_Kenya@NSCpeace@UNDPKenya@WorldVisionKE IRCK reaffirmed that safeguarding peace is a shared responsibility. This calls for institutional accountability, inclusive dialogue, and sustained collective action to ensure safe and credible participation for all Kenyans regardless of faith, ethnicity, or region.
“The 2027 General Election gives us an opportunity to demonstrate that peace is a critical enabler of democracy. We must choose prevention over reaction and national unity over political expediency. Let us sustain peace before, during and long after the elections.” #NCIC chairman Bishop Dr. Dr. Kepha N Omae,PhD.

“Security starts with you. A peaceful election cannot be secured by security agencies alone; it requires citizens to work with security actors & take responsibility for the information they consume & share.” DIG Albert Masengeli.

@kenneth_ku75893 Hello, we are currently still present in 32 counties across Kenya this is just one of our programmes that has transitioned. The work continues in the 32 counties.
After 19 years, the Matete Area Programme in Kakamega County has closed.
66,172 people reached since 2007.
Today only 1 family in 14 walks more than half an hour for clean water. In 2015 it was 1 in 5.
KES 3.2 million. One million of it raised by the community itself, the rest supported by World Vision Kenya.
The Matete Water Bottling Plant is now open in Kakamega County, owned and run by the Matete Community Water Users Association.
They sell the water. The income stays in Matete.
