No the average person goes to the doctor for routine checkups with sick visits being only a small part of the day. All it take is one routine checkup to be more complicated than expected (new symptom, physical exam finding) to run the appointment late.
Im not quite sure why you are arguing this topic when you have no practical experience in medicine. If your doctor is late to see you, its almost always because of a patient related factor before you. Whether it be a late patient (ie arrives 10 minutes late before the cutoff), a complex patient requiring more time than expected, or both. Almost 100% of the cases are outside the doctors control, just like the airline analogy
@jewstein3000@Squirrely4U@soimawriter A positive mammogram does not likely mean cancer. What are you talking about? I suggest you look into sensitivity and specificty to understand why doctors dont tell their patients that it is “likely cancer”.
“I find it hard to believe that complex issues are common with outpatient appointments, and probably make up <5% of cases. “ bro wtf are you even saying?
Do you realize how many things you just listed are just guesses and assumptions you are making based on no relevent direct experience in the field? How is it you hold such strong opinions on a topic you clearly dont understand?
@daniel38608@oitixion Sometimes it is! Mental illness is a chronic illness and can very often have somatic symptoms that are very real. Not sure why you would dismiss that as a diagnosis? Unless you had no understanding of medicine in general and psychiatry specifically! Thanks for your thoughts tho!
@ih8thisplatform@oitixion Ohh thanks for visiting from your weird delusional world of conspiracy! Why don’t you go back and leave those of use living in reality alone? 🤣
@reallyoptimized@BuckeyeGrad1999@jclatorre Oh yea? What understanding do you have of the medical field, medical inteventions, population health or outcomes? What experiences and or work have you done that relates to them?
The only reason you think that is because you understand very little about medicine or the implications of “fast tracking” new unproven technology. It’s almost like you have no knowledge of medical history and what has happened when we have pushed new technologies or pharmaceuticals before understanding downstream risks.
You can be an advocate for implementation of new technology while also not being a complete fucking idiot pushing for reckless fast-tracking of it. You’re full blown embracing your own dunning kruger. Take a step back and check your hubris bro. You have no idea the implications of what you are suggesting
And this statement, my friend, is why your opinion means nothing. You just dont understand what you are talking about. And it’s this kind of blind confidence that is driving the debate from medically illiterate folk on the topic.
You all think doctors are these old bags who want you to die so we can make money. Many of us are young, understand advanced and contemporary technology very well, understand medicine and biostatistics thoroughly. We care deeply for our patients and have a responsibility to speak out against people advocating for interventions that will potentially lead to harm if not thoughtfully considered and implemented.
You’re right. The transition has the potential to be very messy. Which is exactly why doctors are pumping the breaks on the tech bro’s salivating at the idea of pushing through “cutting edge” diagnostics to the masses before they have been validated and then integrated thoughtfully into patient workflows.
We’re talking about life and death here. We’re talking about patient safety. How is it possible that everyone who isnt a doctor here thinks we should fast track this shit and ignore the obvious risks? If you all really gave a fuck about helping patients, you’d be paying attention to those of us who actually understand the system and the ramifications of providing mass testing to people without thoughtful consideration of the impacts false positive rates and excessive patient anxiety may have on their lives or on the system.
@_AustinO1@elhrikho@jross7878@DrRafi_ Corpses? Dude you’re like people in the 60s who thought we would be living on the moon and travelling by flying car by now.
Wild that you think that kind of thing is 10 years away.
You dont get it. The gatekeeping doesnt exist. AI is a tool like any other. If you think it will be replacing a doctor it wont. Give someone the manual of their car and a torque wrench, and AI, then have them fix their own car. i guaruntee you they fuck their shit up immediately. Do it with your body and the stakes a higher. There is a reason medical training takes so long. It’s more than just memorizing books. Its a developed skill. Good luck fixing your own body. You’ll find out soon enough the limitations of AI
@D3GSolutions@KyleSGibson Who said any doctor cares about whether you are impressed or not??? 😂 dude what have you accomplished in your life to be throwing shade?
