@ptrkbrn Not a fair assessment, the premise of the series is that the original dracula has been surfing for 40 years, he surfs in every episode to date, and he's training a new dracula to surf. There's surfing in every episode.
the phenomenon of not being able to separate fiction from reality got to a point of not being able to get a good discussions about the characters. because people act as if characters wronged THEM personally. and you can’t convince them when their personal feelings are involved.
i think it’s a very naive way to look at storytelling to say “if you like this character you should want a happy ending”… well, no! the character is not a real person! i care about whether or not the writing is interesting, and sometimes the interesting thing is complicated
Notice how they made their own rotta the hutt instead of using the jabba fig as a stand-in, this is because rotta is nothing like his father and is his own man.

The scene where they wrote a history of the War of Five Kings and didn’t mention Tyrion in it when he was the Prime Minister of Westeros who assassinated his father who was also Prime Minister and is also widely believed to have assassinated the king. But yeah he’s not mentioned.
so much art from younger folks is incredibly overwritten. they feel the need to over explain themselves. we’ve lost much of that poeticism or ambiguity due to the anxiety of being misunderstood or worse being perceived as an imperfect individual
It's sad really, bc one of the best parts of asoiaf/early GoT was starting out loving or hating a character, & slowly having your opinion change as they progress through the story, but now people just pick a character to stan & accuse the writers of favouritism if they change.
