ON THIS DAY....in 2001,🇷🇼 #Rwanda ratified the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.

Since the ratification, the country has submitted its Initial, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Periodic Reports to the ACERWC. The consideration of the 3rd Periodic Report took place in April 2024. In its Concluding Observations and Recommendations, the Committee commended Rwanda for taking the following measures to improve the situation of children in the country:

✅ Timely submission of the 3rd periodic report

✅ Establishment of National Child Development Agency

✅ Adoption of various laws and policies, including National Child Labour Elimination Strategy of 2023, Law No 058/2021 relating to the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy and Child Online Protection Policy of 2019, and Disability Policy of 2021, among others

✅ Significant increase in number of community child protection workforce
