I continue to be awe struck by the flagella because a) it is such a complex machine that is fascinatingly similar to mechanical motors, b) it demonstrates the power of evolution, a series of random mutations and natural selection. Check out this new work from Singh et al.

Blown away by @joeBondyDenomy ‘s work on the ‘Phage that wants to be a eukaryote’. Love the paradigm changing idea of prokaryotic nuclei. Along with other work on cytoplasmic compartments in bacteria, it’s clear that prokaryotes are not just a bag of biomolecules.

ONLINE NOW: Natarajan et al show that patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 can shed RNA for up to 7 months after infection, shedding is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms, and the gastrointestinal tract may be infected even after the respiratory infection has cleared.
