A new vision for quantum computing is taking a big step forward.
A Yale-led project called ERASE has received a $4 million National Science Foundation grant to advance a quantum computer design built around a key innovation: qubits that can identify their own errors when they occur, making them significantly easier to correct. The grant will also expand quantum workforce development in New Haven.

Yale astronomers have found a third galaxy with almost no dark matter, and it sits in a straight line with the first two. All three appear to have formed in the same violent cosmic collision. A line of dark-matter-free galaxies has never been seen before.

Gray processes. White connects. And genius?
It's neither one. It's what happens when the whole network fires together. That's why genius can't be trained in one area. It lives in the connection between all of them. #SaturdayVIP#brain
@WorldGeniuses White matter, the brain's wiring, develops most during childhood. We talk about what kids learn. Almost nobody talks about what gets connected. Those are not the same thing, and the window for wiring doesn't stay open.
If you stop studying math during adolescence, it’s not just that you’ll fall behind. It’s also visible in brain scans. I used to think, “They can always catch up later.” Neuroscience has a different answer. These opportunities are lost.
@WorldGeniuses The same neurotransmitter that helps a child learn math works the opposite way in adults. Biology changes the rules mid-game. What's easy at 8 is hard at 18. Not because of effort, but because the brain literally rewired itself. Yes.
1.4 million extra words before age 6 isn't just a vocabulary advantage. It's 1.4 million more chances to build synaptic connections before pruning makes them permanent. That window closes. What you build inside it doesn't.
