The best way to help Somerville students is to reduce housing costs and support teachers. In the short run we should end high-stakes testing. This will lower stress students and empower teachers. MCAS just measures household income. Vote yes on 2! https://t.co/WIBWyqelf1

Ben & I held several meetings with city staff to ensure that we could make good on what advocates, data, and common sense tell us: parking minimums increase traffic, are bad for the environment, and make housing more expensive. Somerville can and will do better.
Rain or shine, nothing was going to stop hundreds of advocates from coming together to let Maura Healey know that her new 5 day limit on overflow shelters is unconscionable.
Children having nowhere to sleep in Massachusetts is unacceptable. This policy must be overturned now.

Last night, we saw how Trump plays fast and loose with the truth. A great opportunity to point out how candidates in MA can also be heavily disingenuous in how they talk about policy and votes.
Case study: this mailer from Somerville candidate Kathleen Hornby
Last week, a Somerville city council majority rejected SMEA’s ask to freeze management salaries. Instead, they cut the Chief Administrative Officer job. Then they restored it. Then the CAO announced their candidacy for RI state senate. https://t.co/IomBaxxgn2

Despite support from @svilleeducators , @CAASomerville , @Boston_DSA, the majority of the city council rejected SMEA's request to freeze city management salaries. SMEA's fight for a contract will be many months long. How do you want to support them?
