The idea that staying at home doesn't contribute is really a lie of this modern economy. What is more natural than taking care of your own children?

Some people put this idea aside because the economy forces them to, sadly. These days if you have an ill family member in a different city you really do have to pick between caring for them or your economic well-being (assuming you moved away for opportunity in the first place), but it shouldn't be like this.

Homemakers have historically always contributed financially either directly or indirectly. Tending to livestock, baking, gardening, bartering, taking up small sewing projects or repairs, watching other kids, tutoring other kids, etc. I don’t get where this idea that SAHMs cannot contribute financially came from
