The cost of your flight went up because you searched for it twice. Your rideshare costs more because your phone battery is dying.
This is surveillance pricing – corporations using your own data and behaviors against you.
In the US Senate, I’ve got a plan to ban it.
.@FredHarter writes for @newhumanitarian: 'The Ethiopian Orthodox priest reached the site of the explosion just minutes after the missile had hit. It was a scene of complete devastation. “It was horrific,” he told The New Humanitarian. “The place was littered with body parts of dead people, intact dead bodies, and survivors with missing limbs who were moaning in pain.”'
Brutally murdering and humiliating a group on video will have long-term consequences. You're not a superpower. You can't evade responsibility forever. They can't even achieve that.
Abiy and his friends are just hoping to pass the blowback on to the next generation of Oromos...
Kidnapping has become rampant in Ethiopia's Oromia region, leaving residents of Addis Ababa scared to leave the capital, with many accusing OLA rebels. I interviewed several victims and their relatives, who paid ransoms from $350 to $8,800.

I’m reposting an old post from 2021 because I cannot forget her gesture of kindness and hospitality. The reunion I always intended has yet to be realized and I currently don’t know where Zena is. If someone sees this and knows her please update me. I pray she is home and at least not suffering as she was in 2021. I will say again to encourage and remind people of what humanity looks like in the face of extreme duress.
When you have lost virtually everything you own and are living in a foreign place 100’s of kilometers from your home but your first gesture is to share with a stranger. God Bless You Zena Hussein. I wanted to share this image because your sincerity and kindness in the face of such hardship and devastation reveal so much about your character and your soul. And yes your Wat was incredible. God Keep You until you can return to your home in safety.
KOMBOLCHA, ETHIOPIA - OCTOBER 15: Zena Hussein from the Habru Woreda shows a gesture of respect, brotherly love and trust as she offers a sample of her cooking as she prepares food outside of one of the blocks of housing designated for woman and children at the Yegoff Primary School on October 15, 2021 in Kombolcha, Ethiopia. Female IDP's who are nursing or expecting sleep in separate quarters at most IDP camps. The Yegoff Primary School is currently the home to 703 IDP's from the Habru Woreda, Guba Lafto, Kobo and Lasta. Food shortages, lack of clothing and proper bedding are among some of the major challenges that face IDP's at the camp. The almost yearlong conflict in the Tigray region, whose southern border is about 180km to the north, has spread to neighboring Amhara after the TPLF recaptured most of its home state from government forces in June and then invaded the Amhara and Afar regions in July of 2021. The historic city of Gondar in the Amhara region of Ethiopia, has become a tragic stage for a series of atrocities that have left ethnic Amharas in shock and disbelief. Civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, have fallen victim to a relentless onslaught orchestrated by the Nobel laureate Abiy Ahmed regime.
One alarming aspect of the war against ethnic Amharas is the regime's use of drones as a tool of warfare. Ethiopian Defense Field Marshal Birhanu Julla's assertion that drones are akin to conventional weapons, such as machine guns, has translated into a brutal reality on the ground. The city of Gondar has witnessed numerous drone attacks, with homes being targeted by heavy artillery, leading to a civilian massacre of unprecedented proportions.
The civilian casualties in Gondar include women, children, and the elderly, caught in the crossfire of a conflict that seemingly spares no one. Leaked images of demolished houses tell a harrowing tale of families torn apart, livelihoods destroyed, and a once-thriving city reduced to rubble. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission has issued multiple statements condemning the indiscriminate drone strikes, extra-judicial killings, and reports of rape in the Amhara region.
Despite the mounting evidence of atrocities, the world has largely turned a blind eye to the suffering of the ethnic Amharas. The Ethiopian government's actions have been met with a muted response from the international community, raising questions about the selective nature of global humanitarian concern. The silent, systemic, and systematic genocide unfolding in Amhara region demands urgent attention and intervention.
The situation in Amhara region is dire, and the plight of ethnic Amharas continues to worsen with each passing day. The international community must not remain indifferent to the silent genocide occurring in Ethiopia. It is imperative that the world acknowledges the atrocities, holds those responsible accountable. How many more lives must be lost before the world recognizes the gravity of the situation and acts decisively to bring an end to Amhara genocide? The time for action is now.

I’m from Tampa and what’s odd about this is that he was working in a construction site and a pile of bricks fell on his head. He was paralyzed from it and was put on life support, and died 5 days later. They are trying to say this is his cause of death to avoid paying out to his family.
Ethiopian authorities detain Ethio News chief editor Belay Manaye without charge

Ethiopian authorities should unconditionally release Belay Manaye, chief editor of Ethio News, who has been detained without explanation for three weeks - @pressfreedom
There is no freedom of expression in #Ethiopia, especially for Amhara people. Anyone who has their doubts can take a look at these pictures of prominent Amhara prisoners of conscience from #AwashArba: 1️⃣ Yohannes Buayalew, 2️⃣Dr. Simegnew Alemnew & 3️⃣Christian Tadele. /1
These are recent pictures from the Awra Godana town of Amhara regional state in Ethiopia. The Oromo ENDF invaded the town killed & displaced the entire Amhara population, demolished the city to the ground and erected a land mark asserting its annexation to Oromo region. An ethnic cleansing happening in broad day light. @hrw@JosepBorrellF@DanielBekele@AsstSecStateAF

My traveling exhibition on the Amhara Genocide and its survivors is not accesible to everyone due to the nature of exhibit logistics and physical access so I decided to create a website that mirrors the current exhibitions. For those who cannot physically attend, please visit https://t.co/lVgs1NqU7v or simply https://t.co/GaDnD55Jgv.
