MAGA folks berate anyone who disagrees with them on foreign policy as “globalists.” But Trump is the one seeking to annex Greenland, the Panama Canal, Gaza, and Canada and force Ukraine to share its mining profits with us. Sounds pretty “globalist” to me! One might even call it imperial.
Trump made a deal with the Taliban and cut out President Ghani, the internationally-recognized head of state of Afghanistan at the time. The result was a complete disaster. We cannot repeat that same mistake on Ukraine.
I'm exhausted by the angry, vulgar, extreme polarization in our country. I'm still convinced that most Americans are, too. Hoping this era will end sometime soon. We were not always like this. We need not stay like this.
@evornithology Amen. I was in the humanities, but I knew so many other undergrads who had their passion for science and ambition for a career in STEM wrecked by that course. Sure, not everyone is built to be a MD but the way the course makes/breaks student trajectories is borderline malpractice
What, so every five years the volcano warning scientists at USGS, the heart surgeons at the VA, and the Russian linguists at the NSA will all trade jobs?
I do not understand people being outraged by this. It’s no surprise that 18-year-olds at an elite northeast university are mostly progressive. Do we exercise such monitoring of views over police precincts? Hedge funds? The military?
Just feel like sharing one of my favorite photos of all time — F-15s moving to intercept a pair of MiG-29s over Alaska way back in 1989.
Diplomats exchange words over crowded rooms, but the sharpest edges of foreign policy are often up here, all alone at the top of the world.
@janagridley I love Kenyon College. University of Chicago remains a stronghold, but it's not right for most kids. I think the best way to evaluate is to look into the course offerings and professors of subjects your kid wants to take
@seanmcfate Not a huge fan of the guy, but I think MSN (or you?) missed his main point. In recent commentary, Petraeus has been comparing the siege of Mosul (2017) to what Israel could face in northern Gaza/Gaza City (i.e months of house to house fighting) I think that’s pretty fair?
