I can't believe the day has come when we announce @theforage_ has agreed to be acquired by @EAB ! Forage's first-of-its-kind job simulations, millions of students, a network of universities of thousands, and it's hundreds of top employers around the world will help make EAB an unstoppable force in its mission to make education smarter and our communities stronger.
When I wrote up the code that invented the first virtual job simulation (we called them virtual internships back then), we couldn't have imagined the reach, impact and success we'd have. Who knew you could make a dent in large chunks of hiring cohorts, diversity outcomes, and impact so many personal lives with technology? It's exciting to be able to prove out that you're able to help people, do something unique and make a great business.
This journey has been crazy, and it hasn't been an easy or free ride getting here - but we wouldn't have gotten here without the fantastic team we've had - from exceptional engineers, product people, growth and marketing, to sales and more - with too many names and stories to share in this one post at the moment - thank you. Of course, thank you, my cofounder, @BrunskillTom , for driving this process and carrying this all through the last 7 to 8 years.

Money from tech success in the US goes back into the next-gen of startups via angel cheques. I suspect most money from tech success in Aus becomes downpayments for investment properties.
The change to the sophisticated investor test will only cement this further.
@misha_saul Definitely one of the peculiarities of Aus culture is how much the old high school tie matters and how little what uni you went to matters. In the US it's the complete inverse.
Sam and Greg coming back to Open AI on the condition of sweeping corp governance changes and "cleaning house" would be best case scenario. We'd get back to pre-Nov 17 coup Open AI and they would double down on the direction they were headed. Hoping this is the story arc here.
@parkerconrad@lessin Zapier is the example that jumps out here. They have built out a decent moat via sheer volume of integrations. But not sure whether that is a playbook that can be replicated.
We're looking to double our engineering team in the next 3 to 6 months.

@robgo IMO the existential threat for Zapier is the ability for AI to read API documentation and write the code to set up the integration.
Zapier have spent years building a moat of thousands of pre-built integrations. If integrations can be created on demand, that moat weakens alot.
If you see VCs or other tech players expressing joy in SVB's collapse--they are assholes.
Take note them, and avoid. There is nothing to celebrate here.
