NYC summers hate your weekends.

I analyzed 3 years of Central Park rain data to see if the feeling was real.

It was.

27 of 38 summer weekends had measurable rain.

That’s 71%.

Friday was the rainiest day of the week, with rain on 43.6% of summer Fridays. Basically worse than a coin flip for your evening plans.

Sunday had the highest rainfall volume of any day, averaging 0.17 inches. It may not rain every Sunday, but when it does, it commits.

Thursday was objectively the best day to be outside in NYC: lowest precipitation, clearest skies, least weekend-related misery.

The wildest stat:

70.8% of rainy Sundays were preceded by a gross Friday or Saturday.

The weekend basically telegraphs its own downfall.

🚨: Nobody panic, but physicists are starting to think that our entire universe might be the inside of a black hole.

You can calculate how big the event horizon of a black hole is, the point of no return. It's called the Schwarzschild radius, r(s)= 2GM/c^2, and it's proportional to mass. The more mass, the bigger the event horizon.

So what if you took all the mass of the whole observable universe, and you calculate how big a black hole would be that contains all that mass?

The answer is that it would be... pretty much exactly the size of the observable universe.

Those numbers could be just a really uncanny coincidence, but maybe not.

🚨: So..... it happened!

3I/Atlas did accelerate non-naturally at perihelion to navigate away from the sun. It also unexpectedly increased in brightness.

There are potentially natural, albeit far-fetched, reasons this could happen on its own, but add those low probabilities to the list of already very low probability explanations and either this comet is a combination of all the rarest possibilities, or... it is non-natural, intelligently designed and controlled.

Occam's Razor says it is the latter. The simplest explanation is usually the truest. And when all other explanations are exhausted, the one that is left, no matter how improbable, is likely true.

This satisfies both checks.
