I know a number of people who didn’t marry their “spec” but are in the healthiest marriages I know. Their spec was typically whatever was culturally deemed to be at the apex of the attractiveness pyramid when they were growing up. For a lot of guys in my generation, it was the music video “vixens” from the late 90s/early 2000s Hip & R&B music videos with ‘coke bottle figures’ and or light skinned eurocentric features. When it’s time to find a partner for the very serious endeavor of sharing a life with, that “spec” is simply inadequate as a measure of compatibility and that’s understandable. The foolishness though is communicating it as though their partner somehow didn’t measure up to their “spec” instead of simply admitting that the idea of their spec was stupid all along and a young boy’s lack of wisdom of what makes a good life partner.
Communicating publicly or even privately to your partner that they weren’t your spec to begin with may seem harmless, after-all you’re just being honest. But subconsciously, it’s an ego trip for you who “settled” and for your the partner, it’s a chip they will always carry on their shoulder that to you, they aren’t quite enough. They’re missing something you had always longed for, so much so that you still consider it to be your “spec”. It’s an unnecessary mind fuck and a cruel thing to say about somebody who is sharing a life with you. No matter how flowery you are with the compliments that come after. You’ve already knocked them down several pegs.
If the point is to say your spec changed then talk about the stupidity of having a spec to begin with. Because I’ve never heard anyone in these situations talk about character attributes being their spec, it’s always superficial stuff. Or speak about how meeting your partner opened your eyes to what true beauty is. Speak in ways that elevate and affirm your partner.
I don’t think personal development is spoken of enough. Especially if you’re in your 20s, you should invest aggressively in yourself. This isn’t an argument against investing early, it’s for smarter capital allocation.
If spending on a cert or degree, moving to a better place for your productivity, buying a better laptop, outsourcing chores (buying back your time!) or attending the right event can increase your earning potential, that may be a better investment than putting it in any fund or stock.
You need to be able to weigh and use your money to build the life that earns you more money. Do I invest, yes, but I also allocate aggressively on my development
@honkezo@supersanusi A ICE car that does 10l/100km at ₦1350 per l, uses ₦135 per km.
He said in that period he did 8376km. That's 0.264kwh per km. At ₦225 per kWh that's about ₦56 per km.
His actual cost on solar will be a small fraction of that
Keep your tongue safe from speaking about others.
You’ll have fewer regrets not only in the hereafter, but in this life as well.
And if others speak about you to humiliate you, know that Allah will honor you not only in the hereafter, but before long, in this life as well.
Delivered by C‑section from her dead mother's body. 23 years old. 'israel' bombed and killed her. Buried them under rubble. The baby girl was named after her. Doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. She died 5 days later and was buried next to her mum.
Check the date.
@SirLeoBDasilva@SirJarus This is impossible because of the law of demand and supply. Developers would have saturated the market with so many houses (supply) that the price will come down immediately. So, 600m in such an area will not even start
Most conversations on this app are futile. The reason to keep posting is to provide a counterweight to the crazy positions that pervade this app. We are all being influenced on here, better to be more influencer than influenced. Go get your first principles beyond the internet.
@THECRIMESAGA As soon as you become a knight, you can only move in an L-shape. On the positive side, you can jump over people if you want. Even kings can't do that.
@SarkinMota_AMF Looool... You mentioned civil servants repeatedly, derisively and in a condescending manner to sell cars that they had no business with in any way.
Chief, you did disrespect civil servants at that time. The rest of what you did can remain true as well
@peng_writer Both of them were wrong for not resolving their issues for 30 days. Then the husband became more wrong for thinking he can call her to greet his friends when she doesn't greet him.
There's no right in this matter at all. It is wrong, 'wronger', 'wrongest' 😭🤣🤣🤣
I'll not talk about being kind (men and women) today.
What jumps at me these days is the lack of family support from our immediate families especially after marriage, for women especially. Why can't we have brothers, sisters, even parents who will rise for us? Is it poverty?
Another day to remember that my mum and dad separated, mum left with us and my dad removed our names as dependents from his health insurance scheme. My mum not knowing, took my convulsing sister with her last money to the hospital only to receive the rude shock of us not being beneficiaries.
She trekked home with a convulsing child on her back, funny my sister woke up and is still alive today.
A woman without her own money will suffer. PS: dont talk to me about marrying a kind man
This one shook me to my core 💔
Nigeria has many ways of failing its people… and this is one of the cruelest.
Meet Gospel Uabari Kinanee. In 2007, he was just 14 years old. He left home to play football with friends and never came back.
For months, his family turned Rivers State upside down. Hospitals, police stations, morgues — they checked everywhere. No Gospel.
The search broke them. His parents sold their land, their property, everything they had to find their son. The pain and stress was too much. Eventually, both of them died from heartbreak 💔
The world assumed Gospel was dead too. Years passed. 18 long years.
Then in 2025, out of nowhere, his older brother got a call: “We found your brother. He’s in a correctional facility in Rivers State.”
For 18 years, Gospel had been locked up. A 14-year-old boy who went out to play.
When they asked for his case file, there was nothing. No charges. No court record. No reason for his arrest. Just a child… forgotten behind bars.
The worst part? Gospel lost himself in there. His mind couldn’t carry the weight. He doesn’t recognize his brother. He can’t explain how he ended up in prison. The boy who left home to play ball is now a man who can’t remember his own story 😢
How does a child disappear into the system for 18 years without a case?
How many more “Gospels” are wasting away in prison right now for nothing?
This is not just his story. This is a wake-up call for all of us.
Nigeria, how do we fix this? How many innocent lives are we still losing to silence and broken systems? Talk to me
