There's a subtle difference between streams and discrete events.
A stream of events is unbounded and is often best processed in batches as they are high volume, low value (e.g. IoT telemetry).
Discrete events are important facts that have happened.

Actually, no, it's not very clear. Simply stated:
- exactly-once delivery is impossible
- exactly-once semantics is possible but requires receivers to be idempotent
- receivers can be idempotent only if all effects are persisted in one transaction
