@matrixdotorg I wonder if “decentralised” means the Discord/Slack model here, rather than Mastodon/Matrix. ActivityPub integration on its own doesn’t warrant decentralisation of control, looks more like #DMA-“safe” way to reuse the established Facebook audience and content streams.

@matrixdotorg can surely do that, too, among other things :-D it won’t work with a Matrix-based app sending messages from Carl to David - just like WhatsApp can’t work with Telegram though both use HTTPS. Who said #DMA?

I couldn’t hold myself from resharing that. By now it’s really crazy to think that big names will somehow figure it out. I expect the craziest invention to be of a social kind. E.g., finding how to make companies value people more than money those people are making/bringing.
