Got into an accident today while testing Tesla FSD v14.1 Lite.

We clearly had a green light and another vehicle entered the intersection across our path. The footage shows FSD was still engaged as the vehicle crossed in front of us. I believe I took over and hit the brakes once I realized FSD wasn’t going to stop in time.

The other vehicle running the light appears to be the cause of the accident but would a HW4 Tesla have detected and reacted to this situation earlier than my HW3 car?

I’ve been using FSD v14.1 Lite for a while in Chicago. The last thing Tesla really needs to solve is comfort when approaching intersections without a stop sign or pedestrian crossing, especially when visibility isn’t great because of parked cars.

It keeps driving at the same speed. In some cases that can feel confident, but a real human knows not everyone follows traffic signs and there are always some morons on the road. Slowing down a bit and being more cautious in these situations would make FSD feel much more comfortable and reliable.

Not sure how HW4 vehicles handle these situations though.

Tesla has reopened Roadster reservations.

Roadster reservations require an initial $5,000 credit card payment, plus a $45,000 wire transfer payment due in 10 days, the same as before.
