Thirteen years ago, Mar and I sat at Coupa Café and talked about the kind of venture firm we wanted to build.
We wanted to back extraordinary founders before the world knew their names.
Today, we’re announcing Pear Fund V: $333M, more than $1.1B under management, and three new General Partners.
A lot has changed since those early days. The mission has not.
Find extraordinary founders early. Believe before it is obvious. Help them turn an idea into something real.
We wrote a little about the journey here!
Still day zero. 🍐
like to be honest, i don't really care your project can integrate with my command line and show that my claude does x, y and z. show me something interactive! something impactful! playful! you would think that since coding has become so easy ppl would be more inventive but no...
notion calendar is probably the BEST productivity tool i've ever used. it integrates so seamlessly with my gcal and also integrates the meeting link into the calendar so i just have to click on a button to join + syncs with the other deadlines i've set. i <3 notion
i feel like this is truly 99% of “startups” though. anyone can build a product b/c the friction has decreased so much. but what people are missing is the skill to actually push their product to their market and go from product->company; that’s gotten much harder
the worst thing ever is living in the south bay because you're so close yet so far from sf...like the one hour caltrain is amazing but terrible at the same time
A prime moment in our firm’s history!
Introducing “Pear Prime” : connecting world’s best technical new grads with the best startups in tech!
Prime members went through a rigorous technical and culture-fit evaluation, with fewer than 1% earning Prime approval. We then supported them through interviews and offers until they landed their dream roles.
We’re excited to share that the Prime 2026 cohort joined category-defining companies like @OpenAI, Sierra, @cardless and @ValsAI, as well as ambitious early-stage startups. Several members also founded startups backed by @pearvc, @speedrun and @ycombinator
