Athletes are getting longer rest periods. This is crucial for sports needing event-to-event recovery and for those with intense practice schedules. Smarter recovery leads to better performance. #AthleteTraining#Performance
Tracking progress is important. If athletes don’t know if they are improving, they might lose interest. These⬇️ athletes have one thing in common…they show up with a growth mindset. Those that have not been consistent, have not seen much improvement. Funny how that works.🤷
As a coach, we can’t just DEMAND high-quality work, we must intentionally engineer it.
You can’t perform on a base of high-volume fatigue.
Tired is the enemy.
Pete Bommarito used to preach about the art and science of coaching. Using these things is the science. Integrating them into your training program is the art.
Stop thinking in percentages or velocity alone. The sweet spot for training is where both meet. It's not one extreme or the other; it's the balanced integration. #FitnessTech#TrainingTips
The most effective training isn't generic; it's custom-built for the situation and the coach's capabilities. Tailored programs yield the best results. #Fitness#Coaching
@Mr_davisj I don’t like this take. Stress and strain, absolutely. I use VBT occasionally. It’s just a tool. Depends how you use it. It tells us to lower the weight sometimes, but usually it tells us to add weight. Had girls safely adding weight and hitting PRs yesterday while using VBT.🤷
2-Board Press
Why do we use it?
✅ Builds stronger lockout strength✅ Allows athletes to handle heavier loads safely✅ Reduces shoulder stress compared to full range benching✅ Improves bar speed and force production✅ Great option for in-season athletes

This is l what I mean when I say that losing coaches love hard work.
Useless practice where no one gets better? Well that doesn’t feel very good.
Ending useless practice with “conditioning” so that you can equate tired with having accomplished something? Way easier on the ego.
The @CoachStokowski chart remains undefeated as a great 40 predictor. Fly 10 from 30-40. I hand timed the 40.

Accessory work at the end of a workout can be a good time to get creative. I believe a good approach is grounded in science and sprinkled with creativity
