“A young Australian girl has been shot dead by police in Pakistan. Nine-year-old Hania Ahmed travelled to Chakwal with her father Adeel Ahmed, mother Dr. Sidra Khan and brother Aafan Ahmed to visit relatives when police opened fire on their vehicle, believing they were criminals,”reports @westaustralian.
Earlier this year the Human Rights Commission said over 900 people were killed in what it described as an institutionalized pattern of staged encounters by the CCD.
The CCD Punjab is a criminal outfit and should be outlawed, while all those who have been part of this killing spree should be arrested and held accountable for their crimes.
I, Javeria Siddique, am the widow of late journalist Arshad Sharif. For years I have endured grief and harassment while fighting alone for justice for my husband’s killing. As a widow, the agony of losing him has been compounded by threats, smears, and attempts to silence me. I remain strictly focused on justice for Arshad. Nothing else.
Separately, I place on record that a Pakistani-origin individual, Safina Bi based in London, whom I have never met and do not know, is running a sustained, false and malicious online character-assassination campaign against me. I am a senior journalist, photographer, columnist, unionist, international press award recipient, and recently elected IFJ Gender Coordinator for Asia Pacific. The campaign also targets senior journalist Ms. Samina Pasha, a well-known anchor, analyst and YouTuber.
Safina Bi, attempting to destroy my reputation by circulating fake, fabricated sexual stories. The aim is to damage the image of a widow who is still in grief and only seeking justice. This is not only defamation. It is an attempt to destroy my character, endanger my life, and push me into further danger at a time when I am most vulnerable.
This is not “free speech”. It is targeted reputational destruction of journalists from UK soil, designed to chill journalism and commentary in Pakistan.
Under UK law, deliberately spreading false allegations on social media that seriously harm reputation is defamation under the Defamation Act 2013 and English common law. Victims are entitled to sue in UK courts where the “serious harm” threshold is met. Social media posts published from London are “publications” in England & Wales. Where they form part of a campaign of harassment, they can also trigger criminal and regulatory consequences under communications and harassment laws.
Under Pakistani law, the same conduct attracts liability under the Defamation Ordinance 2002, and for Punjab, the Punjab Defamation Act 2024, for false, malicious imputations that lower a person in public estimation or expose them to hatred, contempt, ridicule, or unjust criticism, including via social media. Where this abuse is carried out electronically and directed at journalists and women, it intersects with offences under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA).
So to be absolutely clear: by weaponising social media from London to defame and harass Pakistani journalists, this individual is breaching UK defamation and communications law, and is also exposing herself to civil and criminal proceedings in Pakistan under defamation statutes, PECA, and the Pakistan Penal Code.
I am consulting counsel in the UK for pre-litigation and potential High Court proceedings, and simultaneously preparing to invoke all available remedies in Pakistan.
UK–Pakistan cooperation against transnational attacks on Pakistanis is already established, as seen in the Imran Farooq case where coordination between UK and Pakistani authorities led to convictions.
I therefore place this issue formally on record as a cross-border threat to journalists, not a private spat, and invite UK authorities, Pakistani authorities, and international journalist and human-rights bodies to treat it accordingly.
Going forward, every false, malicious and targeted allegation will be treated as evidence in defamation and cyber-crime proceedings in both jurisdictions, and we will insist on accountability through courts.

Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif: We can confirm that a final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalize the next steps. Peace has never been this close as it is now"
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.
