Finishing off my bachelors degree with Nutrition and Health was a great decision as I can better utilize the knowledge I've gained to maintain my personal health as I graduate and have more freedom and time in life. It also helps knowing the resources available.

@brenna_chuang@beh353 I think often times we over-complicate things but when it comes to our health sometimes we need to think simpler and focusing on good energy providing diets that are balanced and unprocessed.
It’s important to consult other professionals when making a touch decision. This type of exchange between healthcare professionals is emphasized by @EmmaDArpinoRD as family doctors and dietitians can start working together early for an individuals health.

@kaylaamariee675@nclarkrd@beh353 The most important thing a parent can do is teach their child how to have a healthy relationship with themselves and food as well as how to maintain this relationship by themself in the future. This independence is what will support them in the future.

Healthy eating habits are important to develop at a young age, I chose this article as it highlighted the importance of building a healthy relationship with food and fostering independent habits that will stay with them.

It was an honor to present oral evidence to the UK House of Lords @HLFoodObesity. In the 2nd part of today's evidence session, Susan Jebb, Mathilde Touvier, and I discussed ultra-processed foods & how food environments promote unhealthy diets & obesity

@brenna_chuang@beh353 Hi Brenna, I think that being able to talk openly with your PCP is the most important part. It allows for transparency and puts the patient's needs and desires at the forefront of treatment.
Looking at just BMI is a poor indication of an individual's health, instead we should be looking at not only their weight but also their lifestyle habits and diet overall. I think its important to highlight is a healthy relationship with food and their own bodies.

@Evatu23@beh353 I think looking at the correlation between healthy eating habits developed at a young age and obesity prevalence later on is important as long term habits are more easily developed when one is young.
Obesity is on the rise, adult obesity has more than doubled since the 1990s while adolescent obesity has quadrupled. Concerns regarding the increase in obesity shows pressing work needed to be done for children and teenagers to develop healthy habits.

@kaylaamariee675@beh353 I agree! meal prepping especially if you live alone is so much work, I think it's easier and more fun when you do it with friends...not only can you have a wider variety of food but also less waste

In many public schools you will see students on a discounted lunch while others will be packing a 2-3 course lunch from home with a variety of fruits and veggies. The time consuming nature of developing a healthy habit young is the responsibility of the parents.

@20hhpatel A great way to get a consistent source of vitamin D in the winter months(if you don’t live somewhere sunny) is a vitamin D supplement. This can be easily found over the counter at your local pharmacy!

#JNutr study among middle-age & older women finds "greater #blueberry intake significantly reduced total age-related #MacularDegeneration (AMD), with similar, non-significant associations for visually significant AMD, but not for #cataracts." @HowardSesso https://t.co/E8n42kMjeH
Great reference for meeting your Dietary Reference Intakes for vitamins and minerals...everything is important to the body but overconsumption can be dangerous as well
