Our Department of Information Technology and Electronics (DoIT&E) has officially partnered with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (Bharat Taxi) to enhance our state-owned digital mobility platform; 'Yatri Sathi'.
This strategic collaboration is focused on driving innovation and improving the overall commuter experience through several key initiatives:

# Enhanced Service & Access: Through co-branding and platform interoperability, users will gain better access to mobility services, with both Yatri Sathi and Bharat Taxi features integrated to serve the Public more effectively.

# Driver Welfare: A core objective of this MoU is to support our hardworking Driver Community by extending Cooperative Membership and Welfare schemes to eligible Yatri Sathi partners.

# Future Growth: We are working together to expand our service footprint to include Bike Taxi and Auto-rickshaw options across the state.

We remain committed to leveraging technology to create a more efficient, inclusive and reliable transportation network for the People of West Bengal.

A proposed 200 MW Data Centre investment by an Ireland-based conglomerate, along with the vision of developing AI Corridors across the entire Eastern Region has the potential to create up to 1,00,000 employment opportunities over the next five years.

At the same time, major industrial investments are taking shape across West Bengal:

₹600 crore expansion by Lux Industries at its Dankuni unit, with the foundation stone laid

Shyam Steel's proposed ₹15,000 crore investment in Mejia, Bankura

Amul The Taste of India – commencing its ₹700 crore mega dairy plant at Sankrail Food Park, Howrah

When such significant developments take shape within a short span of just two months, they represent more than coincidence—they signal growing confidence in Bengal's economic potential and its future.

It was a pleasure to welcome Hon'ble Union Agriculture Minister; Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji to Kolkata for a comprehensive review of our State’s Agricultural and Rural Development roadmap.
Our discussions today mark a significant milestone in the journey of West Bengal’s transformation. Under the visionary guidance of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, and through our collaborative 'Double Engine' approach, we are committed to accelerating the pace of development across every district.
I am particularly grateful to the Union Government for their unwavering support in strengthening our rural economy. Today’s decisions including the approval for One Lakh new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) and an allocated budget of ₹8,508 crore for the effective implementation of Viksit Bharat initiatives will provide a massive impetus to our infrastructure and welfare goals.

Our commitment to our farmers is absolute. With the development of the Malda Clean Plant facility, the modernization of the Chinsurah Rice Research Station into a Centre of Excellence and new projects focused on 'Rice Bowl' value chains, we are laying the groundwork to make West Bengal the 'Seed Hub' of Eastern India. Furthermore, our joint efforts in scaling up the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, accelerating the Digital Agriculture Mission, and promoting natural farming will ensure that the fruits of progress reach the grassroots level.
Together with the Union Government, we are ready to build a new, prosperous and self-reliant Bengal. We are marching forward with renewed vigor to ensure that our State sets new benchmarks in growth and development for the nation.

AI Corridor & Centre of Excellence for AI Skill Development –

Tripura has a unique opportunity to emerge as India's AI gateway to Southeast Asia. As connectivity through the Act East Policy expands and trade corridors with Bangladesh and Southeast Asian nations become more active, the state can position itself as a hub for AI innovation, digital services, and technology exports.
Our vision is to establish an AI Corridor alongside a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for AI Skill Development that will serve as the foundation for this transformation.
The AI Corridor will:
Attract AI companies, startups, global technology partners, and R&D investments to Tripura.

Promote AI adoption across government departments, healthcare, agriculture, education, tourism, power, logistics, and manufacturing.
Build AI infrastructure, including compute facilities, innovation labs, and startup incubation centres

Foster industry-academia collaboration to develop solutions tailored to the Northeast and Southeast Asian markets.

Position Tripura as a strategic AI innovation hub under India's Act East vision.
The Centre of Excellence will:
Train students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and government officials in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Robotics, and Cybersecurity.
Offer industry-recognized certifications and hands-on training using real-world AI projects.
Incubate startups and support AI-based entrepreneurship.
Conduct research in collaboration with universities and leading technology companies.

Create a skilled local workforce, ensuring that AI-driven projects implemented in Tripura generate employment primarily for the state's youth.

Our commitment is that every major AI project undertaken in Tripura should first create opportunities for the people of Tripura. By equipping local talent with world-class AI skills, the state can build a sustainable innovation ecosystem where investment, employment, research, and entrepreneurship grow together.

As the gateway to Southeast Asia opens further, Tripura can become not only a logistics and trade hub but also a digital intelligence hub—exporting AI talent, technology, and innovation to India and the wider ASEAN region. This has the potential to strengthen the state's economy and make a significant contribution to India's long-term GDP growth and technological leadership

During our discussion, we presented our vision of making Agartala India's AI City, with YAL partnering with the Government of Tripura to accelerate AI adoption across departments and citizen-centric services. The Hon'ble Chief Minister expressed encouraging support for this vision and its potential to strengthen governance through innovation.

One of our key proposals was the establishment of an AI Centre of Excellence in Tripura to equip students with cutting-edge AI skills, train them on real-world AI models, and build a future-ready workforce. Our objective is to ensure that as AI projects expand across government departments, the youth of Tripura are empowered with high-quality employment opportunities within their own state.

We also discussed the application of AI-driven predictive analytics in the power sector. By forecasting electricity demand and load patterns in advance, Tripura can minimize power disruptions, optimize energy distribution, improve operational efficiency, and deliver more reliable services to citizens and industry.

This is more than a technology initiative, it is a shared vision of building an AI-powered, future-ready Tripura, where innovation strengthens governance, creates opportunities, and enhances the quality of life for every citizen.
