𝗨𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆
The Indian pulses trade is facing an increasingly serious challenge—not only from market uncertainties but also from the unchecked influence of commodity message service providers.
Every day, thousands of traders receive price updates, market calls, and trading recommendations through WhatsApp groups and paid subscription services. Many of these messages reach 𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗵𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 simultaneously, giving these platforms enormous power to influence market sentiment.
What is even more concerning is that, on several occasions, 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀. Such practices raise serious questions about transparency, fairness, and the possibility of market manipulation.
When unverified or misleading price information is widely circulated, it can:
• Artificially influence buying and selling decisions.
• Create panic or unrealistic expectations among traders.
• Encourage cartelization and coordinated market behaviour.
• Distort genuine price discovery.
• Cause significant financial losses to farmers, traders, millers, and other stakeholders.
The pulses industry, which is vital to India's food security, deserves a transparent and fair trading environment. No individual or private organization should have the power to manipulate market sentiment without accountability.

• Registered with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
• Subject to oversight by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting or another appropriate regulatory authority.
• Required to disclose the source and methodology of their market information.
Held accountable for disseminating false, misleading, or manipulative market communications.
Freedom to share market information is important, but 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆.
𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆. A transparent, accountable, and well-regulated information ecosystem will protect farmers, traders, processors, and consumers while ensuring that market prices reflect genuine demand and supply—not misinformation or manipulation.
