According to Middle East Eye (MEE), the Israeli occupation is keeping Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem closed through Eid al-Fitr, allowing only 25 Waqf staff per shift.

The unprecedented closure, now lasting over two weeks, blocks Friday and Ramadan prayers, forcing Palestinians to pray in the streets under heavy police presence.

The move, framed as a “security measure” amid the US-Israel war on Iran, is seen by Palestinians as an effort to consolidate control over the holy site. Waqf officials report that Israeli forces have installed cameras inside prayer halls and denied requests for additional staff, citing settler access.
