New Jersey Democrat-turned-Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew, who voted in favor of the Respect for Marriage Act in July, voted today against the measure which ultimately passed the House of Representatives by a 258-169-1 vote, which included 39 Republicans voting in favor.
Statewide turnout for the 2022 midterm elections in New Jersey was 41%, significantly lower than the 2018 midterms, which saw a 55% turnout. Should be noted that there were no statewide races on the ballot this year.
It's official: the Biden-proposed primary schedule has passed the DNC rules committee. SC will become the new first-in-the-nation Democratic primary. NV/NH will be 2nd and GA and MI will follow.

Since 2006, the party out of power has decisively won independent voters - 55% to 40% on average in midterm elections. This year, Republicans lost the independent vote to Democrats.🧵
BREAKING: 36 MAGA Republican senators just voted NO on the Respect for Marriage Act. You read that right. In 2022, the majority of the Republican Party is AGAINST protecting the right to marriage for LGBTQ and interracial couples.
One weird feature of attacks on teachers and teachers' unions is "kids can't even read." But in international tests, American kids do well on reading!
In the most recent PISA, the US scored in the range of Sweden and Japan, and ahead of Germany, France, etc.
Why do people stay at a job? 💰 isn’t enough. Meaning matters
60% of meaningfulness at work comes from non-economic factors: autonomy (that one has choices & authority over tasks), competence (a feeling of mastery), and relatedness (connection to others). https://t.co/pAdKyaYtme
Outside of Florida, the Latino vote was 2-to-1 Democrat, or better in places like PA. If you are looking for data on Latino voters, the 2022 Midterm Election Voter Poll is the most accurate exit poll with over 5,200 Latino interviews nationwide plus in-depth in 11 states.
In traditional surge & decline theory of midterms, the president has president-only supporters who don’t show up later. That’s plausible for Obama in 08 vs 10 or Trump in 16 vs 18. But there were almost no Biden-only-inspired voters in 2020. easier to re-mobilize anti-Rep voters?
Another big story that's gone largely unnoticed: The GOP's migrant "invasion" demagoguery mostly failed.
Enormous sums were spent on ads depicting migrant hordes in the vilest of terms, including "great replacement" language. It was mostly a bust:

This should be a bigger story. There was a massive gender divide (according to exits) in the youth vote.
Young women:
72% D / 26% R
Young men:
54% D / 43% R
This is consistent with our pre-election polling. And analysis showing an emerging ideological divide.
One thing I know already.
If not for voters under 30 ... tonight WOULD have been a Red Wave.
