Or the man in women's tackle football who held his girl friend captive, beat her with a towel rack, sexually assaulted her and threatened to keep her as his "sex slave"?

Or the man who went to the UK athletics office and stabbed the HR director (who had tried to help him) in a frenzy that witnesses describe like he was trying to "skewere meat" because people had complained about his participation in women's races?

Or the man in women's swimming whose own teammates had to be threatened into silence despite the fact that they were uncomfortable with him in the locker room?

Or the boy in California on the track team who caused girls to change in their cars?

Or the boy on the girls' volleyball team who got half the team kicked out of their own locker room because they complained that he made them uncomfortable and was watching them change?

Or the boy who was barred from competing on the girls' volleyball team in Green Bay who was sending female teammates home with so many bruises all the parents banded together to keep him off the team.

Or the boy on the girls' volleyball team in New York whose own teammates complained about.

Or the boy on a girls' cross country team whose own teammates complained about him.

Or the women's swim team at Roanoke who made sure the creep who was on the men's team was not allowed to join when he tried to force his way on.

She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it.

In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees.

Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal.

In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release.

And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it.

She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway.

She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did.

It has been recognised for a very long time that it can cause ppl (men and women) to do things they didn’t want and weren’t in control of. There are 100s of ppl in secure psychiatric hospitals for that reason

Otherwise they’d be up in arms every time a man annihilates his family, which is, on average every 5 days in this country.

All these men actually want is the opportunity to punish a woman. And many want to use this as an opportunity to by extension punish ALL women.

A lot of people confidently opining on the Lindsay Clancy trial have clearly not watched any of it.

Witness after witness, including her ex-husband, has described how she was in crisis: intensely paranoid, scared to be alone, repeatedly begging for help. The prosecution has had a *very* hard time rebutting it. Some of the government's cross-examinations have been painful to watch, like when prosecutors asked her Catholic ex-MIL—who testified in Clancy's defense—if she was aware "murder is considered a mortal sin." At times they've been desperate.

If Clancy is acquitted by reason of insanity—and I think there's a chance she will be—a lot of people are going to be shocked and outraged. But this is quite literally why the insanity defense exists: because the law understands there is an obvious and meaningful difference between a sane person plotting out a murder, and someone who would otherwise never kill but does so because of a disease outside of their control.

No, that doesn't mean any normal person thinks murdering children is excusable—an accusation so profoundly stupid and bad-faith that I'd expect it from someone with the critical thinking skills of a 12-year-old. It means people recognize the distinction above.

Nor does it mean Clancy would go free, which a strangely large number of people seem to believe. She would be confined to a state hospital—which is a lot like prison in many ways—where she could plausibly remain for the rest of her life. The biggest question here is where, not if, she will be locked up.

It's a horrible case. Her children are the victims. What she did to them is beyond appalling. I feel awful for her husband, who has lost so much. And yes, I also have compassion for Lindsay Clancy, who did something terrible when it seems she was very ill, and whose life—no matter what the jury decides—is forever broken in so many ways. All of these things can be true at the same time.

@StrandTypeMusic @ThePureDrop @ThePosieParker Read up a bit on psychosis. The Louis Theroux documentary Mothers on the Edge is a good place to start, and there are some other docs on general psychosis. Ppl can function perfectly normally, hold down jobs etc while being in a state of psychosis.

The fact so many people act as though she was spoilt bc she had a few hours respite per week, whilst still doing the bulk of the childcare, whilst *severely unwell*, shows how little society values mothers.
