Urgent Concerns on Freedom of Expression in Ethiopia: AEPAC Endorses Letter to Secretary Marco Rubio

AEPAC, alongside 16 Ethiopian American diaspora organizations, has endorsed a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding urgent concerns about Teddy Afro and freedom of expression in Ethiopia.

- Credible reports indicate intimidation, arrests, and suppression targeting both the artist and individuals engaging with his music.

-Allegations include harassment at his residence, detention of associates, and arrests of individuals for listening to or sharing his work.

These developments signal a concerning deterioration of artistic freedom and civic space.

AEPAC and partner organizations respectfully urge the United States to monitor the situation, engage Ethiopian authorities, and reaffirm its commitment to fundamental freedoms.
