I sat down with @INSSIsrael to analyze the influence and role of schoolbooks on shaping societies of the future. Massive positive changes are happening in MENA curricula. Why is this happening ? What role do these changes play in state policy?

The brave Gazans daring to condemn Palestinian schools that teach their children to 'slit the throats of Israelis'... even in so-called grammar lessons https://t.co/v9I4HceiZ4
SPECIAL INVESTIGATION for the Mail on Sunday::
I had direct access to people inside Gaza’s education system or those that had been through it who are desperately fighting Hamas’s grip on their children’s minds.
One mother, “Shireen,” told me of the moment she realised that ideology had reached her own young son:
“When I become a martyr, I will receive houris.” Her ten year told her told her .
At enormous personal risk, Gazan educators and parents are fighting back—trying to teach life instead of martyrdom. These are brave people you rarely hear about and must be applauded.
Their warning is urgent: the space for independent education is disappearing.
If we want a different future for Gaza, we cannot abandon those Gazans fighting for the minds of the next generation.

Despite his formal ideological divergence with Hamas, Barghouti adopted the militia's rhetoric post Oct 7, inflating the achievements of "the resistance" and diminishing the immense losses Palestinians have suffered as a result of the Hamas's insane and irresponsible decision to invade Israel. Similarly, Khaled Mash'al described the losses Palestinians have suffered as "tactical" (while claiming that the losses Israel suffered were "strategic").
These men and other prominent "resistance" supporters are well-off, able to travel and enjoy life, unlike the people of Gaza who have paid the ultimate price for Hamas' decision.
What's sad is that this logic of the "Resistance Axis," which justifies mass death of Arabs in service of the unachievable goal of destroying Israel, is also present among the ordinary supporters of these militias, who were indoctrinated from young age to devalue their own lives and see "martyrdom" as a goal.
A recent meme among Hezbollah-supporting women on social media is interesting. It comes against the backdrop of Hezbollah losing thousands of militiamen in the 2026 war (which followed even greater losses in the 2023-2024 war). A Shia Lebanese intellectual, Ali al-Amin, recounted in a recent interview meeting a man from 'Aita a-Shaab, a border town with Israel, and a Hezbollah stronghold. The man told him that "we've been castrated" to describe the massive loss of men in the town.
The meme reads the following: "Every Shia with the resistance needs to marry 4 [women] and have 5 children. After 10 years, we'll become the biggest social base in the country. Note: Except the Shia who belongs to me and thank you." The last sentence is a joking way to refer to the widespread opposition of Muslim women to having their husband marry additional wives.
This meme is disturbing but also telling. It is disturbing because it views human life as replaceable and individuals as devoid of of inherent worth - and thus giving birth to "replace" someone who died in war, as if getting a new car after the engine of the old one dies. The joke about opposing polygamy is also telling - they support other men dying on the fronts in huge numbers, but don't want to suffer the consequences of sharing their husband with other women to raise future fighters.

A recent analysis in @the_hindu examines the gradual disappearance of political cartoons from Indian textbooks, prompting discussion about what is gained, and what may be lost, when visual satire is removed from the classroom.
Beyond cartoons themselves, the debate highlights the role of images in education. From photographs and illustrations to maps and political cartoons, imagery is a key tool through which students inte rpret events, political actors, and historical developments.
The discussion also raises important considerations about how schools introduce students to political discourse and public debate through educational content.

I am a native Aramaic Christian living in Israel, and I just watched Tucker Carlson’s propaganda aimed at deceiving Westerners and making Islam look appealing.
All Tucker cares about is attacking Israel in an unjust way, along with all Israel supporters, including Ambassador Mike Huckabee.
The bishop he brought on is from a small Anglican community that is afraid for his property in Jordan or Gaza. If he speaks badly about Israel, he will probably receive a substantial amount of money. He, as an Israeli citizen, knows that Israel is a democracy and has freedom of speech, so he can lie or say whatever he wants without risk.
While in Jordan or under the Palestinian Authority, however, he must always praise the rulers and appease threatening terrorist groups.
We in Israel enjoy life alongside Jews. It is safer to live among them. The tiny number of radical Jewish extremists do not represent Jews at all and are punished by the authorities.
No democracy is perfect, but Israel is definitely worth defending and is a better place for Christians to live than any other Islamic Arab country.
If Tucker is a truly honest Christian, I ask him to show the danger of Islam to Eastern & Western Christians, especially the United States. I hope his patron, Qatar, will allow him to do so.
@KseniaSvetlova@LTCPeterLerner I would suggest to stick to research. See what the MoE has approved for teaching since Oct 7th. Including Green line on maps, Nakba, Jewish terrorism and more. Each example has an exact page number and MoE textbook approval number if you doubt the data.

No, @volker_turk, we must safeguard human rights themselves. Institutions deserve scrutiny on how well they do that, not blind support. Your institution has been breaking rules to pass names of dissidents to China since 2006. When I found out in 2013 and reported it, your institution lied and lied and continued to hand over names. Then you fired me over the objections of your own whistleblower protection tsar because, when your deputy @NadaNashif told me to lie or else, I declined.

There are many expressing worry and criticisms of the reported details of the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement. I share some of them for the medium and long term, though if the U.S. and Israel work together now to focus on the source of all Middle East instability and shared existential threat -- the Islamic Republic of Iran -- we can ameliorate many of those concerns. The U.S. position should also be clear going forward beyond January 20: Israel has our full support to engage any terror threat in Lebanon it deems a threat to its security. We will also need to use our leverage over Lebanon in ways we never have.
But take this moment to reflect on Israel's position today as compared to a few months ago when Biden, Blinken and Hochstein tried to force Israel to surrender on all fronts. What a disaster that would have been. Just as they tried to stop Israel from going into Rafah, which was later proven to be a strategic imperative, they must live with knowing they tried to stop Israel from destroying the massive terror infrastructure along Israel's border with Lebanon that the IDF has now exposed and destroyed. Not to mention Nasrallah, the senior leadership, extensive strategic capabilities, and a whole lot more money that has been incinerated.
It's amazing that these men have learned absolutely nothing. They pressure Israel to make concessions even today, as Hezbollah and Iran are the weakened parties suing for peace, clearly also afraid of Donald Trump becoming president. But the terms of the ceasefire will demonstrate that it's Iran and Hezbollah breaking all of their own previously established conditions for a ceasefire - not Israel.
If we now surge pressure on Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, in addition to Iran, alongside a surge in Gulf Arab support for post-Hamas Gaza planning -- securing the release of hostages, including seven American citizens, may yet be achievable.
Maximum pressure on Iran must return. Peace through strength is the path ahead.
Reports reveal that a key organizer of the Amsterdam attacks was PGNL, a central player in a Hamas-affiliated network in the Netherlands, led by a former self-described UNRWA teacher.
