@MundrePratibha@Ajaydubey9@ntca_india@PMOIndia@moefcc Request you to re-read my question. How does anything you are so eloquently proposing prevent the natural occurrence wherein two animals fight, and it leads to the unfortunate death of one of them? I hope you do know animals do fight in nature for their own reasons.
@Ajaydubey9@ntca_india@PMOIndia@moefcc@Ajaydubey9 with all due respect, can you explain how the presence or absence of full day safari vehicle could have prevented the incident that occurred in Panna? Or are you advocating for a forest official in ALL safari vehicles, even regular day vistors?
Ranthambore Tiger Reserve is disturbed due to the shrinking territory available for tigers and the severely imbalanced sex ratio of male and female tigers. However, this is not a problem that has emerged only today. It has taken more than a decade for this issue to reach its current stage.
Over the last 15 years, 24 tigers have been systematically relocated from this park to populate other forests and tiger reserves in Rajasthan. The number of males among them is low, while females are significantly higher. If we break down the numbers, it comes to 16 females and 8 males.
The adverse effect of this is that male tigers are now forced to wander far and wide in search of females. These tigers face no competition for prey. Prey is abundant here, but for the past 8-9 years, tigers have gradually started living in the outer zones as well areas where one mostly sees only Juliflora (Prosopis juliflora) forests. Out of sheer compulsion, they have tried to adapt and establish themselves in this harsh environment (“marta kya na karta” what doesn’t a dying person do?).
In reality, Ranthambore 2 is also a completely open and exposed plateau area, where the negligible vegetation fails to provide these animals with a good habitat. The same situation exists in zones 6 to 10 of Ranthambore 1.
In recent days, most of the tigers that have moved out beyond the boundaries of Ranthambore are males. According to the latest updates, this number is around 4-6. Additionally, two young females have been missing from their areas for the past one month. We cannot say for sure whether these tigresses have left their old territory, were killed in fights with other tigers, or have been poached by illegal hunters.
The truth is that we have distorted the natural behaviour of this ecosystem into an anomaly, which will make the situation even more critical in the coming years. It is not that the officials are unaware of this. However, excessive relocation has not only disturbed the male-female ratio but has also pushed conflicts between male tigers to their peak.
We cannot brush aside this situation by calling it normal. Ninety-nine percent of the tourists visiting this park have no idea what crisis Ranthambore is going through. They are only concerned with the tiger they manage to capture on their cameras. They bid goodbye with a promise to visit Ranthambore again next time.
There are many sycophants, so-called wildlife lovers, and “experts” here who neither openly question the officials about these mismanagements nor convey the real truth to the Chief Wildlife Warden’s office in Jaipur. Because their businesses are running smoothly, and their greed is being fulfilled in the name of this so-called tiger conservation.
Despite wearing the tag of excessive tourism, the reality is that in the NTCA’s list of Best Tiger Conservation Management released in 2022, this park stands at the bottom position. The entire park has truly been devastated. #bigcatprotection #bigcatstory #ranthambhoretigerreserve #tigerincrisis #bigcatofindia
@GargiRawat As a country, we wait for disasters to act. And when we act, it's always knee-jerk.
Then we sit in meetings trying to find how to get more tourists!!
Agree. Instead of thinking long term and devising a solution that works for all stakeholders, why is the default always to 'ban' everything outright?

I would request Karnataka Forest minister Eshwar B Khandre not to do this! Knee jerk reaction to sad incident of tourist being killed during elephant bathing

@mathur_vaishali@ukfd_official Especially the wedding nuisance. Makes absolutely zero sense near a tiger reserve - likely they over invested and built too many hotels and then started the wedding business to recover the costs and eventually profit.
@mathur_vaishali This needs to be seriously escalated. If only some well-followed influencers can take this up, mother nature would be thankful. @ukfd_official
This needs to be said: We are at Jim Corbett and apparently there is no restriction on loud music till 10:30pm in the night. The roads are full of cars speeding around, at least 30 jeeps plying in one area of the forest, you can see brunt land on both sides and massive tree felling.
So guilty of attending a family wedding here, I cannot say. There’s one I skipped because I didn’t want to be a party to destroying the habitat of animals. But why is Uttarakhand government allowing weddings in a forest reserve? I know my tweet will have zero reaction but
Please tag the concerned agencies when you read this.

Impossible to get night stay booking at Dhikala. Been trying every Sunday at 10 when the portal opens. Same story every time - payment goes thru but then it says sorry the room is sold. What's happening? Are the permits only for agents? @Saket_Badola@ukfd_official@corbett_gov
India too needs to remove Section 54f immediately. A lot of money investors and promoters cash out from fund raising/IPOs etc sits idle in real estate, and unnecessarily inflates real estate prices.

India is also quietly seeing PE funds, fractional platforms, AIFs, AMCs, etc buy into apartments, still much smaller in scale
Wondering how it will play out here…?
