CMS is now paying AI vendors a cut of the care they deny. The FDA just cleared the first AI to detect cardiac amyloidosis from a routine ECG. And a former CEO says health systems must replace "huge numbers" of staff with AI within 5 years.
This week's 𝟑, 𝟐, 𝟏: 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 breaks it all down ↓
on national doctor's day, i was excited to receive my copy of David Lortscher, MD's new book, "Why Doctors Win."
the book tells the stories of luminary physicians many of us have studied for years, from Dr. Bud Rose, Founder of UpToDate to Drs. Leonard Schleifer and George Yancopoulos, Founders of Regeneron.
what connects these stories is a pattern I think about constantly: medicine is one of very few disciplines where deep fluency in the 1:1 craft, the irreducible act of caring for a single patient, becomes the foundation for building at 1:many scale.
the physician who has sat with diagnostic uncertainty, navigated a broken workflow, or watched a patient fall through the cracks carries embodied knowledge, a form of structural advantage no diligence process or market analysis can reproduce.
happy doctor's day, to those at the bedside and those building from it!
Phones aren't stealing childhoods.
But maybe parents are?
You've definitely heard something to the effect of: “Kids are glued to their screens—that’s why they don't go outside.”
@JonHaidt & team say we’ve got it backwards:
↳ Over 1 in 4 kids aren’t allowed to play unsupervised—even in their own front yard!
In real life: kids are fenced in.
In a phone: kids are free to roam.
More outdoor free play isn't the solution to everything…but locking the front door definitely isn't helping. 🌱
