We've metamorphosed...

Today, ReGen Ventures becomes Onto Ventures. Onto is our quest to build the enabling technology to make abundance our reality.

Why?

Last year it became apparent that our name was no longer reflective of the scale of our ambition and the ambition of the founders we partner with. It was too literal and too limiting for the world we are building. A world of abundance from the atomic to the cosmic.

We decided it was time to change. If we were ever going to do it, now was the moment. So here we are. Here’s hoping we got it right this time. The root of the word Onto is concerned with the nature of being, existence and reality. The process of ontogenesis is an individual organism’s development and growth from conception to maturity. We’re early in our ontogenesis.

Onto is a place where ideas, talent, trust, capital, and ambition converge. Beyond a fund. Beyond a firm. A Thermal Dome. The Costa Rican thermal dome is an unsung wonder of the natural world where a convergence of conditions creates an invisible engine of life in the open ocean. Invisible to the eye, the thermal dome cultivates the conditions to generate an abundance of life. Onto was founded to cultivate the conditions for the world we want to live in.

Onto is the complete expression of who we are, our ambition, and what it feels like when we all win. Our metamorphosis reflects our deep commitment to the founders we serve and the epic mission we are on.

For now, the job’s not done. It may never be done. We are back to work identifying and earning the right to partner with the most consequential companies of all time.

I was clearly wrong about Anthropic. They are obviously currently the leader in AI. No company has released a model as good as Mythos/Fable and they will undoubtedly have Mythos 2 ready soon.

And I would never cut them off in a way that hurt them badly, even as a competitor. That’s not my style.

Tesla open sourced its patents and we made the Supercharger network available to all competitors, even though we could have made it a walled garden.

SpaceX launches competing satellite systems with no increase in price or use of unfair terms.

Even my worst enemies can attack me on this platform.
