Amidst the heartbreaking news about Lionel Messi's father (Jorge Messi) I can't help but think about how this man sacrificed everything to give Leo a chance at a normal life, and the opportunity to pursue his dreams as a footballer.

As we all know, Leo was diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency at 11 years old, meaning that without daily hormonal injections, doctors predicted he'd reach a maximum height of around 4'7". The treatment costed up to $1,500 a month and Jorge, who was a steelworker in Rosario, couldn't afford that on his salary alone. He took on multiple odd jobs to keep up, and for a while his factory health insurance helped cover the costs.

However, Argentina's economy collapsed in the late 1990s and his insurance dried up. Leo Messi's then youth club Newell's Old Boys promised to help and did contribute occasionally, but the payouts were rare and insufficient The family then tried to move Leo to River Plate, but that fell through because Newell's refused to release Leo's player card. That's when Jorge knew he had to look outside Argentina entirely.

Fortunately, he had family connections in Catalonia, due to which he was able to get Leo into a trial at FC Barcelona in September 2000. The technical director at the time, Carles Rexach, was said to have been enchanted by Leo's genius within 2 minutes. Barça then expressed interest in signing him and covering his treatment costs, but the board hesitated for months due to the many risks attached to signing a 13-year-old foreign kid, something unprecedented at the time and that was complicated further by FIFA regulations.

As the club continued to drag their feet Jorge and Leo waited at Barcelona's hotel for months until Jorge's patience ran out in December. He then issued an ultimatum to Barça: sign Leo now or he takes him elsewhere, including clubs like Real Madrid. The board panicked after the ultimatum and quickly asked Rexach to meet with the agents on December 14th where with no official paper available, Rexach grabbed a napkin and wrote the contract by hand on the spot.

To keep Jorge Messi legally in Barcelona with his son, the club then hired him as a scout, moved the family near Camp Nou, and took over Leo's medical costs. Celia (Leo's mom) and his siblings eventually returned to Argentina due to strain while Leo and Jorge stayed behind alone.

The two would face a lot of challenges with adjusting in Catalonia as well as struggles with FIFA and league restrictions on foreign and underage players, which meant that Leo haf to wait for months to be able to feature in official matches for Barça. In the face of all of that Jorge never backed down, and Leo repaid every sacrifice with his own hardwork on the pitch.

Knowing all this is why the recent news about Jorge's health hits so hard because he's been Messi's biggest pillar his entire life. Without jorge, the Lionel Messi we all love now wouldn't exist, literally and figuratively. I sincerely pray he recovers soon 🙏

This person in the video has built a regression model on Lionel Messi’s (@TeamMessi) longevity and scoring ability and according to it Messi is about 8 standard deviations away from the curve (8 sigma). It is so rare in one tailed probability that the chance for someone like Messi to appear in this world is 1 in 1.61 quadrillion meaning Messi is virtually impossible and mathematically infinitesimally rare

To understand how small a 1 in 1.61 quadrillion chance is, compare it to this: Powerball Jackpot gives you a chance of winning the lottery with roughly 1 in 292 million chance. You are about 5.5 million times more likely to win the Powerball jackpot on a single ticket than to see an 8-sigma event

The standard narrative taught in global textbooks creates a massive logical blind spot: it confuses the origin of a word with the origin of the science itself. To be absolutely clear on the facts: the linguistic etymology is correct, the word "algebra" undeniably comes from the Arabic al-jabr via al-Khwārizmī’s 9th-century book. But al-Khwārizmī did not invent the mathematics.

~200 yrs before al-Khwārizmī wrote his book in Baghdad, the Indian mathematician Brahmagupta published the Brahmasphuta Siddhanta (The Correct Treatise of Brahma). Brahmagupta’s work was a mathematical revolution. He established the structural rules of algebra that we use today:

- Brahmagupta was the 1st to formalize 0 as a number in eqns, defining rules like A - A = 0 & explaining how zero interacts with (+)ve & (-)ve numbers.

- He introduced the concept of (-)ve numbers, calling (+)ve numbers fortunes (dhana) & (-)ve numbers debts (rina) & laid out the algebraic rules for multiplying them (e.g., a debt times a debt is a fortune).

- He gave the world the 1st explicit algebraic formula to solve quadratic eqns (ax^2 + bx = c).

In the 8th century, the Abbasid Caliphate established the Bayt al-Hikma (House of Wisdom) in Baghdad. They realized that Indian mathematics was centuries ahead of the rest of the world. Around 773 CE, an Indian astronomer & mathematician traveled to Baghdad bringing sanskrit texts, including Brahmagupta’s treatise. The Caliph ordered these texts to be translated into Arabic. This translated work became known in the Arab world as Al-Sindhind (a direct phonetic corruption of the Sanskrit Siddhanta).

Al-Khwārizmī sat in Baghdad with access to Al-Sindhind. He absorbed the Indian decimal system, the use of zero & the algebraic methods of solving eqns. When he wrote his famous book, he was systemizing these Indian methods into a textbook format for an Arabic-speaking audience. In fact, al-Khwārizmī wrote another book explicitly titled Kitāb al-Jamʿ wat-Tafrīq bi-Ḥisāb al-Hind (The Book of Addition & Subtraction According to the Hindu Calculation).

While the Arabic word al-jabr means restoration of broken parts, the ancient Indian Sanskrit word for algebra is far more philosophically & logically profound: Bīja-gaṇita.

Bīja means seed/element.
Gaṇita means calculation.

Indian logicians like Bhāskara II (who later wrote a definitive text titled Bīja-gaṇita) explained that arithmetic deals with visible, known quantities, but algebra deals with the hidden seed, the unknown variable (x). Just as a giant tree is hidden inside a tiny, invisible blueprint within a seed, the final answer of a complex universe is hidden inside the unknown variable of an algebraic eqn.

The so called “BAN” or non co operation in the style of Gandhiji , will eventually become a BIG FAT JOKE on FWICE

This isn’t industry or worker protection, like they are claiming. It is just a pure performative muscle flexing , by an extremely outdated union system , desperately trying to hold on to their grip

Whether it claims to speak for over 5 lakh or 50 lakh workers , the brutal truth is that most of those lakhs don’t even know the internal facts of the two parties dispute

FWICE is neither a court of legal justice nor a government authorised regulatory body , and at best it’s a kangaroo court , which by definition pretends to deliver justice , but in actual fact it disregards established legal rules, due process, and impartiality
That is because the verdict is often decided in advance by a group of a specific agenda oriented people meeting privately including actors who are scared shitless with the mega success of @RanveerOfficial in Dhurandhar

This will be a massive PR Disaster for FWICE because It is screaming in desperation while at the same time demonstrating its outdatedness

To start with proving it’s lies , lakhs of workers livelihoods in the industry are never tied to any single actor or any individual project , and so it is a big lie that they are trying to dump on the social media to create an attrition

At the heart of this whole matter is a producer claiming massive pre production losses , but that is just a private contractual dispute between two parties like it happens in millions of cases all the time and all over india in all businesses and then where are the relevant FWICE ‘s there ?

Also only the disputing parties will know the intricacies about what happened , and so the matter should be between them like any other civil matter , and in case one or both appeal to a court , the judge decides the matter
And as per their claims , if it is also about the principal technicians whose time and effort was wasted, then I challenge any of them to individually come forward with proof and publicly blame @RanveerOfficial and take a stand never to work on his film again for the distress he caused

And in the matter of the said producer being so wronged , the truth is that , it is not the FWICE ‘s lakhs of workers , but it is the other producers in the industry who should not want to work with @RanveerOfficial

And here we arrive at the main point that everyone in their heart knows including the disputing company , and for that matter even FWICE , that If @RanveerOfficial simply nods a yes , there will be a one kilometre long queue of producers outside his house tomorrow morning with cheques ready
This inspite of what all warnings they heard from the great FWICE and that production company

THAT IS BECAUSE THE BRUTAL TRUTH IS,

It is stars like @RanveerOfficial who sell tickets at the theatres and not FWICE

It is stars like @RanveerOfficial who create employment to those lakhs of FWICE workers and not FWICE

It is only because stars like @RanveerOfficial exist , that the industry exists , and also the FWICE exists

So in a summation , here is my unsolicited advise to all concerned “ Let’s not poke our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between 2 parties “🙏
