@straits_times The part which really cracks me up is “The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!’”.
As everyone else has been pointing out - who is that directed at? Citizens being welcomed home or non-citizens who shouldn't have the passport?
@Ekbalco@broadwaybabyto In the sense of needing help, it's not ridiculous at all. Not everyone would need the same sort or level of accommodations, but in many ways, I see a lot of *similarities* between the sort of daily care my 80+ year-old parents need, and what advocates here talk about.
@Ekbalco@broadwaybabyto No, simply growing old will result in a person being disabled to some degree too, and needing help and support. It just happens later that way.
@aleks_kv@koovarbie Please don't be offended by a mask (though a respirator like N95 would work a lot better). Protecting themselves from picking up illnesses is a good thing!
@OLDUKIEDUDE@JakeLandauTO@stklietsch There is a move to make voting age 16.
https://t.co/Z1J2oa9Dzn
Which does make the social media ban for that age group rather counter-intuitive. Trusted to vote, but not to discuss?
@LauraMiers This scares me to bits though.
"... the AI project is expected to address staffing shortages by automating routine tasks and supporting decision-making."
"Automating routine tasks" can cover a lot of ground there. Um.
@LauraMiers SOME parts sound ok - mostly when it is being used to flag issues for human intervention. Like "Instead of providing a warning just 15 minutes before a potential issue, the new technology could detect conflicts up to 90 minutes or even two hours in advance."
@anallinaresg What's truly nerve wracking to me is how his outburst was AFTER he'd calmly shook hands with his opponents. Rage/frustration directed at another person after functioning calmly takes it beyond the kneejerk flash of irritated yelling or even the trashing of racquets (more common)
@Bannef_@herandrews Absolutely! No matter how tiring it is caring for a child (mine) with little filter, verbal or emotional, it's far far more stressful with a child who cannot respond in a way we understand. It's so hard to keep them safe. Investigating any incident is almost impossible.
@butterflierer Mmm. I know Rafa is extremely grateful to uncle Toni, but so much about his methods/mindset seem pretty terrible. I mean, even how he left the team appeared rather graceless.
@afrocosmist My favourite show. Hits a heck of a lot harder now than when I first watched it as a teen-young adult though. I know the themes are evergreen, but between growing up a bit, more awareness, and.... (looks around gloomily)
A 12th hantavirus case is confirmed after a crew member aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship, which arrived in the Netherlands last week for disinfection, tested positive, the WHO says. https://t.co/Fy0dGRSynx
@RblxTracker@Roblox_RTC Why do this?!?
My son LIKES weird little quirky games that only have a couple dozen people online - at most. I get log in alerts via my email, as his parent, and I'm aware of his activities.
@eyegenedrb@outbreakupdates This is specifically the Andes strain of hantavirus. There is human-to-human transmission, not just via rodent excretions. Search up the 2018-19 outbreak, and the strict measures used to contain it - and that was in 1 small community. Nothing like now.
@astacopsis@YouAreLobbyLud@WHO Mostly hantavirus infections occur via rodent dropping/saliva/urine. This variant (Andes) has been known to have human-to-human transmission.
Infected people will move around the world a lot faster than infected rats.
@straits_times Mildly positive = positive. Please.
And even more worrying, the person is infected but not (yet?) showing symptoms.

BREAKING: One of the 17 American passengers evacuated from a cruise ship in the Canary Islands has tested positive for the hantavirus but is not showing any symptoms, U.S. health officials said. https://t.co/xwZSCRq2xF
