“The main problem we were trying to solve was reducing our costs while scaling. That’s what initially triggered us to look at alternatives in the market.” @bbeckwith91 Director of Organic Marketing.
That's how Semetrical's journey to SEOmonitor's Rank Tracker started.
@seroundtable Thanks for featuring my article on Common SEO Issues Publishers Face on News Websites.
It was a fun piece to put together and hopefully other SEOs can benefit from it.
@semetrical@DeepCrawl
I recently wrote an article on the @DeepCrawl blog around #publisherseo where I share common issues that my team and I have experienced on different publisher websites over the years along with optimisation tips.

@samtorresatl Keyword Keg is great when you want to get keyword ideas for a list of keywords in one go.
Most tools allow for 1 keyword to be searched at a time or a handful but tools which allow a relevant list of seed terms to be uploaded in one go is so much better!

@Adoubleagent 100% agree! Quickly helps spot areas of a site which have indexation issues.
Also building out GSC properties for different sub paths is also super useful to get more granular data.
Drops in organic traffic are a natural part of marketing work, but you don't have to just wait them out! Sometimes, all it takes is a tweak & a clear head to stop a drop.

When implementing paywalls on your website it's imperative that you do not verify web crawlers accessing your server such as #google by user agent. Instead use a reverse DNS lookup then verify it by a forward DNS lookup. This helps prevent spammers accessing your content.

@Tina_Donati Keep the blog as one but use top level cats to break it out for the two audiences followed by sub cats within each cat. In your site-wide navigation link to the two category pages which should play as the blog home for each audience.
@HubSpot do a good job of this.
@TraceWall As part of cleaning up articles that are going to be removed due to not providing historical organic value can be re-used for authority building by outreaching the article to relevant industry publications. Has been successful in the B2B arena.
@myriamjessier Agreed! Usually causes more harm than good. I believe in allowing the user to choose. Also give them a nudge with a JS banner referencing their country specific site if landing on the wrong one.
The worst is when US IPs get forced to the US website & Googlebot is not excluded.
A common mistake amongst paywall #SEO is websites not disabling the #Google cache otherwise their content can still be found by non subscribers.

@blakedenman It differs per industry based on how often search behaviour changes. Some industries it does not change often where with others it is worthwhile doing it yearly. More often it would be expanding research into areas not explored before.
Regular competitor gap analysis is key.
It is fundamental that any site migration is approached with caution, thoroughly planned out, and has all of the relevant stakeholders on board.
Join me and @DeepCrawl`s Anne Berlin on the 20th of April for a webinar not to be missed!
