Why does vitiligo take longer to respond than psoriasis or atopic dermatitis? Iltefat Hamzavi, MD, explains in part 2 of his #EADV2026 interview on the phase 3 Tranquillo data:

Every cheap RNA screen in drug discovery throws away the thing that splice-switching drugs actually change. @Sculpta just went after that.

@neal_amin left a Stanford faculty position to build this. The chemistry is elegant. Plant handles along the RNA inside living cells, click a DNA barcode onto them, and pool every sample before a single enzyme gets involved.
Two approved drugs already work by fixing how one gene is spliced. Imagine screening for the next ones with isoform resolution as standard.
"We are working towards the first comprehensive atlas of RNA processing at single cell resolution for new therapeutic target discovery."

The confirmed #measles count in Pennsylvania has topped 1,000. Important to note that confirmed cases make up only a portion of all cases, especially given infections among PA's Amish community probably do not come to public health's attention in many cases. https://t.co/tzRMFIZuMm

@urotoday@zklaassen_md@GACancerCenter@l_ballas@CedarsSinai The key question is whether pausing improves first-pass placement accuracy or just resident confidence. Curious if you tracked both separately across the ~250 cases? I’d be tempted to have sciqst generate a review on simulation-based procedural training.
Been collecting some preprints of the last while and made a short list of my favorites.
It's become more and more that there just sooo many papers being released, it's getting harder to digest them all.
Absolutely check these ones out, there one where I'm still thinking about them days afterwards or least give some hope to the future of science

Thank you to my friend @HealthcareAIGuy for the feature and honoured to be a passenger on The ElevAItor Ride, his #AIinHealthcare newsletter, on the day it turns one year old. Coincidentally, I myself turned a year older yesterday!
Three things I talk about:
1. The promise on how AI could finally take high-quality care to the last mile, to rural India and other LMICs.
2. The peril of models flooding healthcare with big claims and little evidence and how this could widen inequity.
3. The path towards trusting any AI tool before use by asking two simple questions: Has it been tested on people like me? Has it been tested in my language?
Congratulations on a year of building this global conversation!
