We have put a deposit on them to keep them from shipping to Canada but we must raise $3450 ASAP to cover their bail and transport. They will be going to Pony Tales Refuge and Rehab organization in Colfax, WI. Pony Tales will do their own quarantine. These mares have been at the lot for almost a month. There are so many Thoroughbreds at lots right now and it is overwhelming and heartbreaking to try to decide which ones to help because we would like to help all of them if we could. However, we just cannot but we can help these 5, if we can raise the funds needed. We must raise $4850 to secure them and some for partial transport.

Silver Mako, Unidentified bay TB mare Tag 1262 & Twinvoke will be going to This Old Horse in MN and TOH will pay their transport, Luck Runs in Me and Breezin Time will be going to STES in TX if we can raise their bail and transport. TOH & STES can do their own quarantine. Twinvokes remaining bail has been paid by us and Leah T. Silver Mako's bail has been partially paid by us but we still need to raise the remaining funds needed. We need to get these horses picked up soon when transport is coming through.

A growing number of Republicans are calling for an end to the horse slaughter pipeline.

Seventeen House Republicans, led by Rep. Vern Buchanan, have asked President Trump to permanently ban the export of American horses to Mexico for slaughter, citing the threat of New World Screwworm, animal welfare concerns, and overwhelming public opposition to horse slaughter.

Each year, roughly 20,000 American horses are shipped across the border for slaughter, with much of the meat ultimately exported overseas.

The message from Congress is becoming increasingly clear: American horses deserve protection, not a one-way trip to a slaughterhouse.
