Here's an important story from Mumbai worth reading on Saturday's Metro accident that killed one.

The general consultant appointed by the MMRDA to oversee the line 4 metro works, including the safety, was SERVED 150 NOTICES by the MMRDA on various problems.

MMRDA officials said that instead of acting on the notices, the consultants just forwarded these notices to the contractors.

MMRDA has suspended the consultant now but has paid a total of ₹380 crores to them already.

As per this report in @HT_Mumbai by @Shashankrao06 and @tweetateeq

Rather than holding the contractors accountable, the general consultant, a consortium of DB Engineering & Consulting, Hill International and Louis Berger, forwarded these notices to the contractors but failed to act when they did not hear back. MMRDA too failed to act when its notices went unaddressed but, inexplicably, continued to make payments to the consultant, amounting to ₹380 crore over the last 8 years.

MMRDA has suspended some of its own officials and is now inspecting every single aspect of the Line 4, followed by all others lines.
