We are now less than 2 hours (1.20 pm Paris time) from one of the most important launches and space events of the year. So let's wrap up what we know about the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) in a small thread ⬇️

Nos nouveaux astronautes européens ont été dévoilés hier 👩🚀, le budget de l'agence spatiale européenne a été augmenté 📈, on va essayer de décortiquer un peu les infos 🧵
My first article as a 1st author!
A simple #data analysis of ACE sat. dataset to highlight the difficulties arising when applying Machine Learning and Deep Learning in #astrophysics.
Huge thanks to @space_able for giving me this incredible PhD opportunity, and to my co-authors!
🇫🇷Sophie Adenot🇫🇷
Helicopter experimental test pilot and now French Astronaut at @esa, former @ISAE_officiel student
PS : fier de préciser que c'est également la marraine de notre promo 2019
Are you excited to meet the new class of 2022 astronauts? 👩🚀👨🚀
📺 Join us live tomorrow,23 November, at 13:20 GMT/14:20 CET on #ESAWebTV 👉 https://t.co/PcAhyhOUPe
It will be an event absolutely not to be missed! #ESAastro2022
Le saviez-vous ?
L'Agence Spatiale Européenne @esa@ESA_fr fait partie intégrante de la construction de la capsule Orion qui devrait ramener des hommes et des femmes sur la Lune d'ici quelques années (projet Artemis).

The filament eruption seen in SUVI 304 Å images as reported by @erikapal occurred ~35° behind the east limb (per STEREO-A). This turned out to be a huge CME! This animation combines running difference images from LASCO C2 and C3, which cover 6 Rs and 30 Rs, respectively.
#Webb has arrived at L2!✅
Today at 20:00 CET Webb fired its onboard thrusters for nearly 5 mins to insert the observatory in its final orbit around the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point, nearly 1.5 million kilometres away from Earth👉

Another major milestone for @ESA_Webb - last night the tensioning of all five layers of the sunshield was completed, putting the sunshield in its fully deployed state ✅
Next up: mirror deployments!

This is it: we’ve just wrapped up one of the most challenging steps of our journey to #UnfoldTheUniverse.
With all five layers of sunshield tensioning complete, about 75% of our 344 single-point failures have been retired!
The two solid rocket boosters have separated from the @Ariane5 rocket carrying #NASAWebb. They will fall back to Earth and land safely in the ocean. #UnfoldTheUniverse
Here are some of the reasons why the world is very excited about this launch!
Thank you @ArianeGroup, @NASA, @esa, @csa_asc for all the content that I used here.
If everything goes well, this is the next step in humanity's understanding of our Universe
Fingers crossed 🤞

JWST's unfolding will be the most complex deployment ever done in space. It will take 13 days to unfold and everything has to work perfectly!
