Clearly its been a year since the last inspection. Tint I think is a cash grab. But honestly if a guy backed in and bottomed out the truck that can could be loose and then being rough getting it out could FUBAR a U joint. Over weight sure.

Your legacy can still be preserved through your hired hand.

Farm couple has two off-farm daughters who won't ever return to run the farm.

But, they've got a loyal hired hand of 5 years.

Here's how their plan works:

When both H&W pass away,
→ all off-farm assets (IRAs, life insurance, brokerage, CDs, and cash) get split between the two daughters

→ hired hand has a purchase option via 10 year contract to buy the equipment & livestock at 50% FMV

→ hired hand is gifted the house he lives in +10 surrounding acres

→ all farm land goes into a Legacy Land Trust

Terms of the Legacy Land Trust
→ land must stay in the trust for 10 years before it can be sold or the trust terminated

→ hired hand has first option to rent at 75% of the USDA county wide average (grandkids have second option w/ same terms)

→ net income (cash rent minus property taxes, insurance, & improvements) split between the two daughters

→ if (after 10 yrs) the daughters agree to sell the land or terminate the trust, hired hand has Right of First Refusal to buy the land at 75% appraised value

→ if hired hand doesn't buy, H&W descendants have same ROFR terms

→ any land sale $$ gets split between the two daughters (or their kids if they're deceased)

Just one example among many where a non-family successor will get a chance at owning & operating a farm w/o having parents who farm.
