Yesterday's violence will not deter us from doing what is right.
Today, the Shivajinagar Bus Stand footpath is clear, accessible, and back where it belongs — with pedestrians.
The Safe Footpath Campaign will continue, firmly and fairly, in the larger public interest.

What makes Malgudi Days so timeless is that Shankar Nag brought R.K. Narayan's fictional town to life right in Agumbe, a quiet, rain-soaked village in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. it receives the highest rainfall in South India & the 2nd highest in the entire country after Meghalaya, earning it the moniker "Cherrapunji of the South."
Swami’s house in the TV show is a 150+ yr old heritage mansion named Dodda Mane ("Big House" in Kannada), situated right on Agumbe’s main street.
It is built in the traditional Malnad Thotti Mane style, featuring massive teakwood pillars, long outer verandahs (where Swami's father sat reading newspapers) & a large open central courtyard (thotti) designed to catch rainwater.
The house belonged to the late Kasturi Baile (fondly known to 1000s of travelers as Kasturi Akka/Amma). Shankar Nag fell in love with the vintage authenticity of the home in the mid 1980s. Kasturi Akka opened her doors to the entire cast & crew, including Master Manjunath (Swami) & Girish Karnad, making it the central heart of the show.
Kasturi Akka firmly refused to turn Dodda Mane into a commercial hotel/corporate resort & operated it like heritage homestay. She never took advance room bookings, never handed out a price list & never asked for money when guests left.
Visitors were given basic room/dormitory sleeping mats & served endless, heartwarming, traditional Malnad vegetarian meals served on banana leaves along with her famous herbal Kashaya tea.
Upon leaving, guests were simply pointed to a contribution box/allowed to hand over whatever amount they felt comfortable with, whether it was ₹100/1000/nothing at all.
Though Kasturi Akka passed away a few yrs ago, her family, specifically her daughter Sujaya & her extended family continues to live in Dodda Mane & hosts travelers who visit Agumbe to relive those childhood Doordarshan memories, keeping her exact legacy & open-door tradition alive.
Stepping into that courtyard still feels like Swami might come running down the wooden stairs any second! 🙏🙏

Man looked completely clueless, question was something else but kept answering about some else. Imagine If even 50% of our mainstream media starts questioning our ministers like this..
Minister Shri Krishna Byre Gowda launched the footpath vehicle clearance drive on Queens Road by affixing notices to abandoned vehicles parked on pedestrian pathways.
