Meeting with other emergency managers today here in Adams. Working to make sure we can work together during regional incidents (i.e. blizzards!) to help keep everyone safe. Thanks to our regional partners for support! @douglasoem @BoulderOEM@DHSEM and many others! 👏🏻 #COReady
From the Chief...
In the early aftermath of one of the most aggressive winter storms we've seen in many years, I want to take a moment and share a little from the events of yesterday for us. The news doesn't... https://t.co/rPO20NUWbU
County buildings will open at a Noon on Thursday. Still more than 100 motorists stranded in vehicles along with a few county plows and graders. Reverse 911 call placed urging residents to stay off roads. Abandoned vehicles that have been towed are taken to DA’s lot in Brighton.
Working with the State Dept. of Homeland Security, we have issued a Local Disaster Declaration which allows the Colorado National Guard to provide assistance and resources. Stranded vehicles are having a significant impact on our ability to plow. Please stay off the roads. #CoWx
This is 120th Ave between Tower and Imboden at 2:30 pm today. Please avoid it and 56th Ave. Our Public Works crews are going on 30 hours straight and abandoned vehicles great problems. These roads will likely be impassible in places throughout the night. #AdamsCo
Road conditions have improved drastically in urban areas, but there are still plenty of challenges east of Sable Blvd. Please avoid 120th between Tower and Imboden and 56th Ave. east of E-470. Drop a like to thank our crews, many of them haven't stopped to sleep in 30 hours.
I've authorized the activation of the @CONG1860 and declared an emergency due to the storm impacting the Front Range. CO National Guard is activated for search, rescue & safety ops. @COEmergency, w/ DHSEM & @ColoradoDOT is working with local counties to prioritize resources.
Attention commuters going to the airport...DO NOT TAKE THE BACKROADS TO TRY TO GET TO THE AIRPORT...you WILL get stuck. Roads are still hazardous and they are not plowed all the way through.
Thank you for attending the 2019 Colorado Emergency Management Conference.
