I'm beyond excited to share my latest paper with you, in which we identify the chromatin remodeler ALC1 as a regulator of PARP2 trapping. Just published yesterday @MolecularCell! 1/6

@haicovanattikum@HombreRRo@luijsterburglab@NatureComms @LadurnerAndreas @hanneslans@sheeradar Thank you so much for Magdalena's and your contribution! I'm still excited that the microlaser irradiation experiments actually worked and we finally found a way on how to measure chromatin opening at UV-C sites!
Our story on how XPC-PARP complexes engage the chromatin remodeler ALC1 to catalyze global genome DNA damage repair is now online in @NatureComms.
Close collaboration with the labs of @LadurnerAndreas, @haicovanattikum, @hanneslans, @sheeradar

A great big thank you to our Session 1 speakers, Drs. Iris Gonzalez Leal, Carla Winter, & Giuliana Mรถller!
We learned a lot about R&D career opportunities in the Pharma/Biotech industry! #inPharma2021#pharma#biotech#Science
My very first paper got published today! ๐๐พ๐ Using Hi-C, we found an intriguing role of dynamic DNA contacts in parasite immune evasion. Special thanks to @JoanaRCF and @siegel_lab with all members! You are a great scientific family. https://t.co/EyuHbey3oI
@GraemeHewitt2 I can imagine, I would have been exactly the same! And I can only give the congrats back! Such a great paper - you basically answer all open questions, that we discussed in our paper, two weeks later! ๐
@MichaelNADbio @MolecularCell Thanks so much, very happy to hear! I'm curious to see where the PARP field is bringing us in a few years, so many exciting advancements happening at the moment.

@luijsterburglab@MolecularCell Thanks a lot, Martijn! Probably at least a hundred times. In the end, Andreas was even a second faster in spotting it! I'm also excited for the next paper and am really happy that we are doing this collaboration together.
@durocher1@MolecularCell Thank you so much, very happy to hear this! Back in 2018, we were really happy that ALC1 showed up as a high-significance hit in your olaparib screen. This was a nice validation for the early data we had back then.
This was a fantastic team effort @LMU_Muenchen. Thanks to @claudiag013 @LadurnerAndreas and everyone else involved. An especially enlightened PARP2 even made its way into the Christmas decoration of our institute! 6/6
Strikingly, the deletion and inhibition of ALC1 result in PARP2 trapping, severe hypersensitivity to PARP inhibitors and to BRCA deficiency. This does not only put PARP2 trapping into focus for cancer treatments, but also identifies ALC1 as a new potential cancer drug target.5/6
