@m_daveys If homes were better insulated (less heat exiting windows, doors, and cracks in the walls), would this affect how homes are cooled? Assuming that turning the furnace off allows heat to seep through poorly insulated areas in windows, doors, and cracks in the walls.
@Phys273Hamdi@adrielsaya@Arianne_PHYS273@GGCruz3 might help with "noise" pollution as well. The city might finally be silent (other than the non-stop honking of angry drivers, maybe they'd be more relaxed in a Tesla)
@ccarl012 Perhaps, but I also posted a video about how if you want fast delivery service (2-3 days) the trucks don't get filled up to capacity, so articles are not efficiently being shipped. Maybe online shopping is okay, but we just have to be more patient in receiving our items?

Online shopping is becoming more and more popular, but how environmentally friendly is it? check out this cool article to see what one research found!

Climate change will bring more precipitation in dry regions which I read could be detrimental to businesses and agricultural activities that are often carried out in dry regions and are less well equipped to deal with floods for example.
#Lesson12
Climate change is more extreme in the Northern hemisphere than it is in the Southern hemisphere. I'm not sure that I understand why. Is it because there are more wind risks and more precipitation?

When looking at the climate-related drivers in different regions of the world. I noticed that extreme temperatures were not a factor in Australia, small islands, and polar regions. Does anyone know why this might be?#Lesson12

I know I just posted an article about online shopping and the environment, but I just found a video that explains it as well and its really well made! makes you think!

@ElliottTarek@CarletonKyra ya thats the sad part! the first step isnt figuring out how to fix the problem, the first step is figuring out how to get the companies on board! (probably with money lol)

Here is a pretty interesting read about how climate researchers work was turned into "fake news" from the researchers point of view!

@gen_phys273 I actually started to become a little more "vegan" in this past year. I really try to eat as many meals without meat as I can. I also have been trying to cut down on processed foods for health reasons, but its cool to see that it helps the environment as well!

I know its a bit silly and simple, but I find videos that are "for kids" are a good way to get a summary of things that we saw in class, like this video for example and how it does a review on air pollutants. Just something lighthearted too

@Sehwan89 if you look at the dates of the 13 largest oil spills in history, most of them occurred between the 60's and 90's. One of them occurred in 2010. Hopefully this is an indication that companies and the government are putting a real effort into trying to reduce oil spills.
@pathanasoulias that is crazy!!! I never thought of that, What is worrisome is considering how many people can be present at large event hockey games and thus be exposed to the carbon monoxide!
