@CharlesMBrenner Yes I think so. But multi gram doses are needed due to resveratrols famously poor bioavailability. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the 10,000 (sic!) or so papers on resveratrol have used homeopathic doses.
@CharlesMBrenner@GSK Resveratrol may well have some beneficial medical effects in humans but this has nothing to do with aging. Again, there are of course no magical anti-aging pathways. The complexity of aging phenomena is astounding.
@CharlesMBrenner@pfizer The MoA of resveratrol is complex and pleiotropic. Meaning that it engages many different drug targets. SIRT1 may be one of these. More importantly, much evidence supports human health benefits of resveratrol but only in high doses because of poor pharmacokinetics and pleiotropy.
@cshperspectives Agreed but review unfortunately lacks natural antisense transcripts. These often functional lncRNAs can be studied systematically. We and collaborators have been able to upregulate over 100 human mRNAs with the AntagoNAT oligonucleotide derepression approach targeting lncRNAs.
@CharlesMBrenner As we and others have shown, a large number of genes actually do change in human midlife. But the complexity is still astounding, certainly not supporting any “magic pathway” pursuits.
