When cars took over the roads, they didn’t just curtail kids’ freedom—they also made life much harder for grown-ups, @stephmurrayyyy writes: https://t.co/43W3X9VRjQ
Trump would have gotten away with his behavior in any venue other than an honest courtroom. Once again, as with the cases against Fox News and Infowars, an honest courtroom brought a lying bully to heel.

@exurbanist@peekskill_walks@CityOfPeekskill@peekskillpolice Yes! And there are always empty parking spaces 1/2 block away. 🤦♀️ A truly awful combination of entitlement & laziness. Plus the City & PPD not caring about public safety. They talk the talk, but their total lack of action belies it.
@TheeBrianO@CityOfPeekskill@peekskillpolice Meanwhile we're having the same conversation on here weekly, the city is aware, and nothing changes. We really need more people in City Hall who actually prioritize safety, walkability, accessibility, public spaces and community over driver convenience and parking.
Come on, @cityofpeekskill, this is out of control. The solution is to place a barrier along the crosswalk to prevent this dangerous situation caused by lazy, entitled drivers who know the city is turning a blind eye. Meanwhile what's is stopping @peekskillpolice from ticketing?
The city’s lack of caring about basic cleanliness and basic safety issues leads to decreased quality of life for all. Yes, residents stop caring, too. When these basics stop mattering, the whole city declines. @CityOfPeekskill
@optimum …it even rubs off on the residents.
Reckless driving is tolerated. Residents blow through stop signs, drive wrong way on 1-ways
Trash is allowed to be piled atop downtown litter cans
Food trays and car cleanouts left @ the curb and stepped over by residents for months on end
Our cities used to be built like college campuses. They were walkable communities with mixed housing styles, civic centers, public spaces, and other amenities all woven closely together.
College campuses are designed for people. Let's start designing our cities that way.
#Peekskill just isn’t getting it. These sidewalks, these crossings, these intersections are not safe! How many more victims need to be hit for change? Silence is complacency. I DARE ANY LEADER IN THIS CITY TO SPEAK UP AND ASK QUESTIONS! “How Does This Keep Happening?!”
We've heard reports that 3 people hit were by a driver at Central & Union at 8:30 this morning. One of victims apparently was a child, but no official info is available yet from PPD. We'll update when we hear more; in the meantime our thoughts are with the victims of this crash.
A whistleblower report released earlier this week claims Holtec evaporated radioactive water at Pilgrim plant. Activists request Governor Hochul and other officials to pivot to a state-led waste management process for Indian Point.

@CityOfPeekskill if someone wanted to donate a willow tree or any tree for that matter down at the riverfront or elsewhere in the city how would one go about doing that? If one were to donate a tree, would the city be willing to put them into the ground? We are a tree City USA 🌳

Peekskill has a great opportunity to make downtown safer and more accessible - in addition to a new public plaza - assuming City Hall moves forward with the Division plaza DRI project. @VMckenzie10566@1RamonFernandez@TalbotKathie
@HeraldPeekskill The US Census Bureau defines "rural" as a town with a population density of less than 1,000 peope per sq. mile. In 1870 Peekskill's population density was 1,511 ppsm. The avg pop density in US today is 2,553 ppsm. Peeksill was already exceeding that by 1,000 by 1910. Not rural.
